I really liked this series, but I didn't feel like it was long enough. I'm obsessed with mermaids and I liked the new spin the author took on mermaids. In this series mermaids aren't just only one type. There are sub-species within the mermaid race. The two sub-species that the author focuses on in the book are the Orcans and the Eel People. The Orcans pose as the good guys and the Eel People are the antagonists of the two book series. I don't root for either side though because they both want Princess Azuri of the Orcans to marry Prince Unagi of the Eel People. Azuri is really in love with a bodyguard and he feels the same way. I enjoyed this book series and I hope the author can write and illustrate more graphic novels in the future.

Of course, I bought this for my daughter Azuri as well as the first one, sad that the third one never made it to print :(

I loved these two volumes, but now it seems like it won't continue so it's left me a bit unsatisfied. Hopefully we'll get the third volume sometime.

2.5 stars. I liked the idea and the story was entertaining but I'm not sure I like how it ends. There is a lot going on in this volume and I think had there been more after this I would feel better about the story as a whole. I was left with questions
