This book is horribly organized. It hops around topics, introduces terms without definitions, defines them later, then adds more words to refer to the same thing and uses them interchangeably. The diagrams don't have all the terms they teach you, so it's difficult to get a mental structure of what was going on.
I was a college student that had to take this book, and reading it was one of the most frustrating struggles of my school career. In desperation I took it to my mother who has a degree in Agronomy. (Basically farming) It took her and I an hour to parse through four pages. Quite frankly, I don't know what it's doing near a college campus, nor how this is supposed to be breaking it down for those who are not well versed in Botany.
The best way I can describe this book, is that the author is like a person who loves telling stories, but is constantly going back and correcting themselves to build up to a single punchline. The story becomes so mangled that everything is confusing, and the punch line falls flat. The author is certainly knowledgeable on Botany, but they do not have the skills to break it down to a lay man. If you can find another way to learn it, do it.

I enjoyed reading this book. its rare for me to write that about a book. No its not. Its really not rare for me to write that about a book. I enjoyed reading the chapter about strange plants in the back of the book. It was fascinating to read plant cells, reproduction. Even if I can't remember the information. It will take me more study time to learn all the terms and things. I have liked plants for awhile but, had never thought about learning botany. But, now I want to learn botany. Its amazing stuff.

I enjoyed this book I like the how it's a book about all parts of plant growth it has definitly allowed me to understand terms related to more advanced literaterate in the future. So very useful starting point but with mastering of all things you should test your understanding in a project or somekind of test.

This is an excellent lesson of botany. It covers all of the primary important topics of the discipline. It is an excellent review of the science of plants.

The book started out reminding of what I learned in Biology 101 in 1980. Then it was all new to me from there. I found the visual aid most helpful. The visual aid diagrams helped me with the concepts & terminology. I'd have to re-read it over & over but eventually I got it. This books has helped me understand the terminology in field guides. I've learned many interesting facts about plants. I wish there was a "Botany for Dummies" part 2 so I can learn more.
