I liked the idea of separate chapters and watching movies along with every chapter (though I didn't watch them all). Overall too much theory, too much of what needs to be done, not enough of how to do it.

[I should probably upgrade Turn the ship around to three stars now]

Read this for school, but actually really enjoyed it. It was inspiring and while reading I was able to recognize ways I could become a better leader. I particularly enjoyed the chapters on the fundamental state of leadership and being an authentic leader. I think those subjects would be great for leadership trainings.

I highly recommend this book for nonprofit boards and staff as something for the group to read well before any long-term strategic planning or major changes. It helps the group to think outside the box as an organization, but also serves to help individuals realize their strengths and shed light on their underlying assumptions. Change will happen - but it might not be in the way you expected! If you are feeling "stuck" it is just the nudge you need to move forward into what you are meant to be.

Although this text is about leadership in a work setting, it's many idea's and methods greatly apply to every day life. If a change of any kind is something you're looking for, this is a good start. It's very personal and makes you think through the reading material and questions that follow.
