The author of Wizards, The Spellbinder & Inspector Monde does it again.
In this sequel to Wizards, Jake & his dragon Fluffy find themselves in trouble again.
Jake is in solitary confinement in jail suspected of being involved in the disappearance of Bronwyn Matthews and the injuries to her parents. He's pretty happy to be there as his cheating on Jenny is preying on his mind and he's not sure how he can face her without telling her what happened.
But the multiverse waits for no man, not even a wizard. Bronwyn has been busy causing trouble in the Kingdom of Salice and her parents are not recovering from whatever she did to them.
When Jake discovers that the Matthews are expected to die, he knows he cannot continue to hide in prison. He must act and act quickly.
But is it already too late? Bronwyn has used his absence to steal the books of magic from the Salice Palace Library. She knows more about magic and is almost as powerful.
I enjoyed book two of the Wizards series as much as the first. The book is written in a style easily understood by both young and old. Some insights into the workings of a young man's mind fall into place. How the young Wizard accomplishes the tasks before him are not always logical, but they do seem to keep him away from harm.
Jake has matured from a 'dude' to a young man and, like another wizard series, that's reflected in the narrative. Unlike 'Wizards', which I wasn't able to put down, I was, well, able to put this down, because it did seem to be toned down a notch in violence and sexuality, but it was still quite a fun adventure.
