Alice finally got her wish. Wonderland has become her new home, but with her abuser’s avatar with the uncanny grin turning the mad residents of a moonstruck world against her, she’s clawing for a little rationality amongst the chaos.
As Alice’s sister Edith and her childhood friend Earl fight for a way to bring her back, Alice has to contend with whether or not her torment is due to her father, herself, or maybe a curious combination of both…
Superstar writer Dan Panosian (Unkindness of Ravens, Black Tape) and artist Giorgio Spalletta (007: For King & Country) explore the morbid side of escapism in this twisted tale that blurs the line between fantasy and reality.
This was rather confusing - did I miss a series before this?!
Seemed a really odd place to start for the complete lack of explanation here. Little info about the characters, and while we can draw enough conclusions from the subtext, I would have appreciated more detail on what I was dealing with.
That aside, this was an interesting take on the tale. Artwork was looking really cool, but sadly the story doesn't quite feel strong enough to support it.
I think the next issue will make or break for me. I'm hopeful but not holding my breath.
It’s pretty much a meh story, it’s just a recap of Alice in wonderland trying to be edgy with the “close up scary faces” and have no purpose. It’s basically there but that’s it….
So I did really enjoy the story and the artwork in this novel, buuut I didn't know that you are ment to read the whole Alice Everafter series first- so I did find the storyline quite confusing (which is a shame because if I'd known about the other books I would have read them first) so overall I do think this is a good read however unless you read the Alice Eeverafter series first it is quite confusing, but I guess if you really want to read it you could read it first but keep in mind that you'll miss most of the character building and details about the background of the story ( these details are covered in the Alice Everafter series) so just be prepared to be thrown in mid way through a storyline. 4/5 would recommend but would also recommend reading the Alice Everafter series first ✨️✨️
A comic bursting with life and colour. This Alice In Wonderland retelling is intriguing and already seems to have darker undertones to the story. The illustrations are captivating and fit the tone of the story nicely. We start the story off where her sister and father are concerned about the well being of Alice. Since it seems like she is distant from the world and is inside her own head already in wonderland. Meanwhile in the real world her family are trying to bring Alice back to reality. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Alice In Wonderland stories and comics. As I am already eagerly waiting to read the next one. I'm looking forward to seeing where this version of Alice In Wonderland goes.
I was so excited when I found out about this new arc in the Alice series. This issue picks up where Alice Ever After left off, with Alice given into the fantasy world, which in this comic, is drug-induced. Alice's sister and friend are trying to help her despite fearing she's lost forever, and we get to see Alice in Neverland again with all the old friends: the rabbit, the door mouse, the Mad Hatter, etc. The artwork is gorgeous, as I've come to expect from Boom! Studios, and the story is very interesting. For me, it doesn't have the same intensity as the first series yet, but it's still good, and I love this twist on the classic.
Dark and twisty spin on Alice in Wonderland. This follow-up ties up some loose ends but leaves things open for more. We'll written with stellar artwork.
