I can't really tell you why I had problems getting into this book but I did. This book had everything that I want in a romantic suspense story...a sexy, strong hero, a feisty heroine, and chemistry. What was lacking for me was the plot. I found nothing intriguing about it. In fact so much that I got about half way into the book but if you asked me what happened in that first half of the book I could not tell you a single detail. Thus if you strip away the plot and just leave Kadin and Penny then you have a fun, comedic read. However I was expecting and hoping to read a romantic suspense story. A high note is that the ending was nice.

There were lots of things happening in this story, both from the mystery side and from the personal, the romance side. The intense beginning of the book pulled me in, and took me for a wild, at times scary, ride.
The mystery is well built, there are several twists in the plot, things that brought lots of tension and scare into the tale. The suspects, as well as cases, kept piling. And deadly confrontations, attempts to kill both Penny and Kadin kept happening. The question of 'who done it', who was behind the murder, and who was covering for it kept going on in my mind, well built suspense, indeed.
The romance was heartbreaking, because both Kadin and Penny had baggage, that they haven't dealt with. Yes, they were attracted to each other, physically, but were they healed enough to have a lasting relationship, and could they ever be?
I loved how well they worked together, trying to solve the cases, how they were there for each other, despite everything else going on between them.
I also liked that there was not an easy solution to their conflict and issues, but they actually worked on them, talked to people about them, faced the fears, uncomfortable confrontations.
There were a couple things I was surprised about, like unprotected sex, and a woman drinking wine while pregnant, just health issues I wanted to point out, no more no less.
Well built thrilling suspense, and a romantic saga filled with drama, passion, and family issues, providing solid entertainment

I knew by reading the description that at times this would be sad and I was right. I can't imagine how hard it would be to lose a child to murder. Kadin Tandy solved his daughter's murder than decided to move from New York to Wyoming and open his ow PI business.Dark Alley Investigations.

Kadin as a private citizen can do more than the police can. He does work with the police. I admire the character Kadin trying to bring other children home when he could not save his child and wife.

Penny Darden is a ad exec. She is dating a client of hers when she notices something that is a clue to a murdered child's case. She doesn't want to go to police in case she is wrong so goes to Kadin and gives him the clue.

Penny is a flirt. She is single and has no plans to slow down and marry. Someone follows her home and up to Kadin's place. Who is following her and why?

What would you do if the guy you were dating might be a child murderer?

The setting for the book was mostly Utah with a few fast trips to other states.

There is lots of action, a few suspects, love scene. lots of drama

I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Harlequin. In return I agreed to give a honest review of A Wanted Man.

Very good book that kept me hooked from the first page. Penny is an ad exec who has recently started dating one of her clients. While visiting his home she discovers something that could be a clue in the case of a murdered young girl. Though her client is acting strangely, she's not quite ready to go to the police, so instead she asks PI Kadin Tandy for help.

Kadin has recently opened his own PI business, after years as a NYPD detective. His daughter was kidnapped and murdered, and after he solved that murder he felt compelled to help others going through the same thing. Working for himself gives him the freedom to stretch the rules when he needs to.

The romance between Kadin and Penny was full of obstacles, mostly related to their pasts. The physical attraction between them is hot, but both of them have issues that have them protecting their hearts. Kadin is still grieving his daughter's murder and his wife's subsequent suicide. He believes that he has had his one chance at love and has built walls around his heart to make sure of it. He doesn't expect Penny's flirtation, independence and strength to start tearing down those walls. His determination to protect her makes him realize that it's more than just physical attraction that he feels for her.

Penny has her own baggage that keeps her from committing to any man. Raised by a single mom, she doesn't believe that marriage and children are in her future. She's independent and uses flirtation to keep control of any encounters between her and men. The more time that she spends with Kadin, the closer she wants to get to him. She sees his pain and wants to help him through it, knowing that, until he does there's no chance of anything more between them. Working with him on the cases of the missing and murdered girls also has her looking at her own family life differently. A surprise development part way through the book has her examining her priorities and plans for the future, while wondering if there's any hope of something more with Kadin. The ending isn't quick and easy with simple solutions. They have to actually talk to each other about their fears and hopes and commit to working on their issues.

The mystery in this story was a gripping one. A young girl was kidnapped and murdered and the man that Penny was dating seemed to have some connection to it. After she reported what she found to Kadin, she was followed, attacked, threatened. She works with Kadin to find out the truth, but it doesn't come easy. There are several suspects and no clear path to which one it is. I bounced around between a couple suspects before finally deciding who I thought it was. Penny is determined to help find the truth and takes some risks that put her in more danger. The final confrontation was intense and had me riveted until it was over. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next in the series.

*I have received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review* *

Penny is a hard working driven women who is currently dating a coworker, things turn a little sticky when she finds some suspicious evidence that can lead to helping a kidnapping case. Rather then going to the police she gots to Kadin who is on the case. Kadin is works his own investigations after the death of his daughter, he wants more then anything to help others that are in his situation. He's the one to handle all the cold cases. The more things get looked into the more dangerous it gets when both realize that a hooded person is following Penny.

Overall I thought it was a great thriller. I loved that there was always something was going on whether it was the drama with the case that was going on or the attraction the two are giving into. I loved that there was the dual POV. I loved that there was just enough to keep the readers guessing who it could it be. I loved getting to know the history of each characters. I loved that from the very beginning of the book the author has the readers hooked to the book from the very start, leaving the readres wanting to know more and to not put the book down. As you can see, I really enjoyed this book and think you readers will love the book as much as I did.

The miniseries called Cold Case Detectives definitely begins with a story packed with mysteries and emotional issues. A man has decided to devote his life to finding killers, regardless of when the crime was committed. His latest case is working with a woman who accidently learns information that might aid in solving a recent murder. With few clues and threats to her escalating, they know locating the unknown predator is imperative. Jennifer Morey keeps the danger level set on high throughout A WANTED MAN, where the list of suspects continues to change.

Though Penny Darden really cannot image the man whom she has just started to date could be a murderer, there are several puzzling facts related to him that make her suspicious. The two met when she created an ad for the company where he works, and they are just beginning to learn more about each other. Not wanting to falsely accuse her boyfriend was of being connected to a local murder, Penny decides to speak with a private investigator before contacting the police.

Since Kadin Tandy was previously a detective in NY before opening Dark Alley Investigations in Wyoming, he had worked many homicide cases. After his own daughter was murdered, he decided to change careers. Now he hopes to help other people get justice against those who brought sorrow into their lives. When Penny comes to his office and shows him the evidence that she came across, Kadin thinks it needs to be checked out. Soon afterward, she is threatened and he feels it is necessary to watch over her. It does not take long before her lively personality actually has him opening up to her, something he has not done to anyone since the death of his daughter. Before Kadin even gets the chance to think about really living again, all may once again be taken from him unless he discovers the person after Penny.

With so many unknowns related to the murder case Kadin has agreed to take, he has to dig deep in order to catch a ruthless killer. His past skills come in handy, while his personal demons drive him to not let someone else be harmed. I really felt for him and how much pain he still feels, as what happened to those he loved is so tragic. Though his suffering has motivated him to start an investigation agency, it has also kept him from letting anyone get close again. Penny knows how a relationship can be damaged by what decisions are made, so she keeps her association with men flirty and has few expectations. But when she meets Kadin, they cannot keep their emotions from being involved. While the sexual attraction between them is powerful, anything having to do with their feelings only causes confusion.

Not knowing the person to blame for the killing and threats added to the anticipation of exposing whoever was guilty. Jennifer Morey gave a clue here and there, but with nothing concrete, I just kept changing my mind until all was revealed. Lots of action added suspense and tension to the story, and I never knew for certain what would happen during several of the more perilous incidents. The Cold Case Detectives miniseries has a great premise, and I am eager for more captivating stories. A WANTED MAN is intriguing plus emotional.

I received a complimentary book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I love most of the Harlequin Intrigue books because they are romantic suspense which is my favorite genre. Most of them are as good if not better than many of the mainstream authors. In fact, many of their authors write for both Intrigue and Mainstream. Unfortunately, this was not one of those books that was easy to read. I

I have never read this author before, but the synopsis sounded very good and seemed to be the type of book I would read. Unfortunately, I found myself trudging through this book trying to finish it as quickly as I could so I could write this review.

The plot, itself, is a decent idea. However, I actually did not like the either of the characters. Kadin Tandy at one time was a cop. However, his daughter was kidnapped and murdered during that time. His wife was so upset and depressed about it that she decided to take her own life. Kadin, of course, blames himself because he couldn’t find his daughter in time and, also, didn’t realize how upset his wife was. So he quits his job and opens his own Private Investigating business. He hopes to save other girls who are in the same situations as his daughter.

Kadin meets Penny Darden when she discovers a clue to the latest case of a missing girl. She finds Kadin very attractive and makes a play for him. Even though Kadin explicitly tells her that he will never remarry nor will he ever have more children, Penny continues to flirt with him throughout the book and tries to get him into bed. I had trouble understanding Penny. Her lack of respect for Kadin and his feelings is very difficult for me to read.

Because of Penny’s refusal to stop trying to tempt him, Kadin has to continue to tell her to stop and often refuses to be near her. He becomes upset and feels guilty that he even wants to kiss her. I agree that Kadin has not come to terms with his situation, but it is not Penny’s place to seduce him into sleeping with her as a remedy.

I also found that there was no chemistry between the couple. It was all just pure lust and nothing else. Besides all of this, as with most Harlequin series, there is a happy ending. I did not see any building up to the ending and, truthfully, I didn’t believe in it nor did I want it to happen. I actually wanted Kadin to smack her and tell her to grow up.

All in all, I found this book very difficult to read even though it is the beginning of a new series about this PI agency I actually doubt that I will read the next books in this series.

These harlequin romantic suspense books aren't what they used to be. I may not be reading this series of books anymore.
