Prosperity Pie plenty of everything with enough to share!
We can be and feel prosperous no matter how much we have or don't have, or what outside circumstances may be. You are enough You have enough You do enough It's true
SARK (a.k.a. Susan Ariel Rainbow Kennedy) is an American author and illustrator of self-help books. Five of her sixteen books have been national bestsellers, and she has sold more than two million copies of her books.
One day I took all my SARK books done from the shelf and re-read them. I forgot how comforting they can be. This was one I hadn't read, so I took it out of the library. These are great comfort books, remind us all that we're a work in progress.
Sark's book is not your typical how-to, self-improvement book. It looks like a journal written in her own hand with sketches and photos and doodles. It's very hard to describe - and can be a little hard to read. But I think her writing is insightful and helpful.
Are you looking for ways to improve your life? This colorful book is for you. Filled with helpful exercises and drawings, it's a must-read for self-help readers.
Again, Sark has wonderful ideas about life, just as in the previous book I read of hers. Mainly how to live with yourself, relax because no one is perfect, and not to dwell on other's expectations. She lists books and other references to check on the contents of her suggestions. She also has met with many people who have given her support and retreats to overcome fears about money, and other issues. She devotes one chapter on self care, which is the highlight for me.
I decided to re-read this SARK book. I love her ability to express what it is like to be authentically human. Her words are a comfort even years later.
I loved this book! This is one of my favourite that I've read by SARK. I will definitely reread it. Interestingly enough, she spends only about a quarter of the book on money and traditional definitions of "prosperity." Instead, the book begins:
"I believe we need to discover WHO we truly are, in order to develop inner prosperity."
"The truth is, things fall apart, blow up, get lost, die, become hopelessly tangled, disappear and disappoint. We are still called upon to find our center, to bake our 'prosperity pie' regardless of outside circumstances."
This is a book about finding and reconnecting with yourself, and it is a joyful romp through SARK at her most honest, most exuberant, and most real.
"Prayer Pie May you unfold willingly May you be truly nourished May peace be in your every step May gratitude fill you May you reach others with your radiant heart."
When my son was two, an older, wiser friend gave me a gift: Sark books. It was a bad time in my life, and I didn't think I was ever going to get out of it. When I started reading the books, I started getting better and better until I finally was strong enough to get out of the situation I found myself.
I went to the library yesterday and got tons of book. One of them was this one, which I have but is currently in storage. In a matter of seconds, I felt a whole lot better. Her uplifting way of writing and her pictures make me smile, and her stories make me understand that I am not the only one going through anything.
Really nice read, very practical and whimsical both at once. SARK goes through different stressors in turn (money, time, etc...) and tells you how she got to a zen place about it. I wish she had spent more time on money and specifically how to manage being broke. But she speaks from her own experience and her money experience is from a place of having money as a successful author. So there you go.
Prosperity Pie was not what I expected. I wanted some finance advice from the darling SARK. She gave some advice, but nothing was practical, more philosophical. The highlight of the book was the profiles of friends who have helped her along the way. Not SARK's best for her long-time readers, but would still make a great introduction to all that is SARK. (P.S. Luke thinks she looks like a soccer mom.)
Sark always surprises me. I always end up finding myself startled by her drawings/pages/wisdom, she has such a grand gift of the unexpected. In a fit of low energy/esteem/chutzpah/EVERYTHING I broke down and read Prosperity Pie cover to cover in one night. Just what the doctor ordered. When an abundance of silly joy is needed to help squeeze through the odd dark moment, do try Sark's writing.
This really wasn't what I was expecting. I was thinking of a self-help book and this was, well..., not a self help book. At least it's not what I think of as a self help book. It's more of a "life is a gift and women are wonderful book." I bought this one, and it quickly ended up in my "books to donate" pile.
I like Sark and have read a handful of her books. There are some good points in the book, and good exercises.. but a lot of new age stuff..."you're alright, I'm alright.. it's all good." That doesn't hold much weight for me. I think I'll stick to her books that are intended to spark creativity!
SARK is a divine gift to this earth, who just so happens to be a human bean, too, just like the rest of us. she has hands-on activities and encourages you to write things in her books.
Great book! I got some great ideas on how to let go of my fear of dealing with money and how to enjoy it while I am still here. I CAN'T TAKE IT WITH ME!
Fabulous...as always! I just can't get enough of Sark. Her handwritten books make me feel connected to her, like I am reading a shared journal that we swap back and forth.
I LOVED IT. what a beautiful book. the illustrations and writing was awesome. This is a book I will keep on my night table so I can pick it up when I need it.
