Just when I thought things were looking up, Fate had to kick me in the kidneys.
The worst thing that could happen after getting close and personal with Death was being stuck with a womanizer as a babysitter. If River would’ve kept his pants up, none of us would be in this mess now.
They told me power corrupted irrevocably, but I knew unlimited magic twisted a mind absolutely. Just look at my grandmother. Not even the shifters could fix this shit.
Now, I must find an Archdemon on the loose and prevent a master vampire from gnawing on my neck. Let’s not forget dodging a murderous scorned lover-and I wasn’t even the one getting laid.
Everyone trying to protect me thought I was about to go down. Hard.
The nerve on some people.
I had one thing to say to all of them. Especially to the woman that raised me.

Like the concept but I found myself swiping through pages and pages just to get through it. Not really drawn in. Not invested in what happens to the characters. No romance.
I thoroughly enjoyed going back in to Hazel's crazy life. The things she gets up to and not to mention the multiple faux pas! I do appreciate that she is not totally blinded by the pretty boy, however I wish she had stronger convictions on that front. The relationship with Sissily is great and I do love that she has the support she so desperately lacked for most of her life. With quite a few revelations happening in this book, I am wondering what book 3 will bring us. As always (it seems), I read this in one sitting - I could not put the book down.
Hazel, the fashion diva, newly magical'd, snarky, sassy, feisty witch is at it again! Every time, and I do mean EVERY TIME Hazel decides to help, it backfires. As if facing grandma isn't enough, she has demons coming for her from all sides, she has her loyalty to Alex and his packs safety to consider, she has the wellbeing of her BF to consider, not to mention that she's completely at the mercy of her very unpredictable magic, which blows hot and cold all the time, one minute it's out of control, the next it's dormant. Which doesn't stop her for one second, which leads her to her worst decision, to date that is. And she's pulled River and Sissily along for the ride, a dangerous ride all the way into the underworld, where things get very heated up, no, not fire hot heat, just whoa what the heck heat! And OMG was I really in a tailspin over River! Like NOOOOOO! CAN'T BE HAPPENING tailspin!
But does Hazel lie down and take the punches like a good little witch? Heck NEVER! She retaliates, she verbally spews everything and everything she can at every adversary, even the very devil himself! I love the trio, Hazel, River and Sissily, they couldn't be more different yet their overriding sense of protection brings out the very best in them. I really adore River, he's a real angel 😜 With something brewing between him and Hazel, it hasn't percolated to the right temperature just yet and I'm spurring them on. The author does a fab job of propelling the story, plot and characters forward constantly. Even Hazel, who I must say survived the illuminating punches exemplary, her snarkiness and smarts is her shroud of safely but she absorbs it all, she doesn't allow any revelations to keep her back. Her fear, her insecurities, her emotional turmoil are all laid out bare and she deals with it all in her unique "Hazel way", attracting mayhem while trying to solve mysteries. Such a fun character!
This book was more tense than the previous ones, trying to outsmart demon numero uno tense and boy were there some scenes my heart was hammering in my chest! Geez does this author throw in the twists! I'm rendered helpless, like watching a tower of blocks I've fastidiously built topple over at the last brick.... This is another fast paced, action packed read, fun read. Although, now I have to rush off to read the next book, because I need to discover if River...had River...was River...
When the pack is trapped by demons intent on harming her friends, Hazel, River, and Sissily make a rash decision, which leaves them dealing with demons, and playing into the hands of the powerful elites.
This one was another relatively short story in this series, finishing around page 131 in my kindle reader. It was also a really frustrating book, because all of the characters annoyed me! I was really annoyed at River (though I shouldn’t be because there’s no promises between him and anyone, it just bugged me); Hazel seemed intent on making one big mistake after another (I feel like she as being needlessly stupid, even after recognising her own stupidity); and Sissily seemed like little miss perfect even as she enabled the stupid! In the end, it felt like the characters had been through a lot to learn very little (possibly the whole point). That doesn’t mean it wasn’t entertaining or enjoyable, just that I’m giving the MC, her bestie, and the pigeon the evil eye right now, even as I’m dying to know what happens next! An engaging read, this is part three of a series which absolutely must be read in order. Part rom-com (lacking most of the romance), part urban fantasy, it’s San enjoyable read for the UF lover.
Ok, so now things have gone to hell in a handbasket! Literally. I am slightly shocked at so many plots twists and turns of events. I’m also surprised- and yet not- that Danika has even more secrets. She laid out some big bombs on Hazel and now her carefully laid plans all surrounding Hazel are unraveling except Hazel doesn’t follow orders. lol it’s great. The same part of me that wants to smack Hazel is also cheering that she gets herself into these messes. But now she’s leaning to use her magic and parts of where it comes from. I can’t wait to see where Hazel ends up! And I’m hopefully cheering on River. I think Hazel needs to let go a little.
I thoroughly enjoyed books 1 and 2, and gave them 4 stars. I'm happy to give this book 5 stars. Although Hazel is still a character that makes me laugh, this book is more serious. The perilous adventures are maturing Hazel, and how she manages her powers. I enjoyed her budding relationship with River. And, of course, I love the relationship between Hazel and Sissily. I'm even more amazed at this author's imagination. I very highly recommend this book.
This is the third book and starts just where we left Hazel on pack lands for her protection. But this is Hazel.. so there is mayhem, action, sarky comments, and laugh out loud moments! If you enjoyed the last 2 books in this series, you will definitely love this! It's an action-packed page turner, and it's over all too soon. Great book.
I am enjoying the story and I like the characters, but the author needs a much better editor than whatever app she's using. The misspelled words, incorrect punctuation and flawed grammar are distracting. There were a few lines I had to reread multiple times because the poor grammar made them incomprehensible.
The lead character drove me nuts throughout this series. Her continuous selfishness and ignorance was very hard to get past. She is always running head first into danger and dragging everyone in with her. All of her plans are rash and she doesn’t listen to anyone. I stopped reading the book about halfway through.
For as much that happens in each one of these there is no explanations, character growth, or storyline beyond grab the special snow flake with supposed awesome powers.
The next “book” doesn’t come out till June and I literally just don’t care. I hate these characters, I hate everything about these.
What an absolute fun read. As usual, I loved every page of this book.. The storyline and humor definitely kept me entertained and am looking forward to reading the next.
these two girls are the clumsiest I've ever read about. a comedy mixed with drama...crazy. it's a shame it took so long to download this book it didn't like me being in australia. it took 3 days
What??? This very very short story was a convoluted mess. Too busy, too short and has absolutely no conclusions to anything. The dialogue was off for these characters and the humor fell flat. A poor showing for this author.
Fire your editor or install Grammarly. Either. Or both. There are so many grammar and punctuation problems in this book that I couldn't attend to the story.
Hazel can't sit still long enough for others to help
Wisely and River are always at her side to help and Hazel is beginning to realize how much she needs them. Because fighting everything and everyone to find out the truth of her heritage is getting dangerous.
Just when you think Hazel can't get into any more trouble she does. Who says a jaunt into the underworld can't be fun? I can't wait to see what trouble she drags her friends into next.
The book was great! The last half of the book was non-stop. I felt like I couldn't cat h my breath. I really live Hazel and Sissily's friendship, it's really cool. The cliffhanger had me gasping. I was like, "Oh, no!" I am dying for the next one!
The turds are about to hit the fan. And the revelations just keep coming. How much hurt can one woman endure? Well, this witchy woman is strong and she can give as good as she gets. I am loving this series.
This is the third book in the series, and it deserves more than five stars! One minute, I was reading and caught up in the story; within a couple of hours, I was like, WHAT? It is that intense and full of action! Hazel, Sissily, and Blackman are still at the pack lands underneath the protection of the two alphas’ and their packmates. When Hazel starts feeling a little wonky, it puts everybody on alert. Suddenly, the quiet life they have been having goes out the door! Someone is out to get the three of them, or Hazel~ What occurs next is nothing but action on every page, hair raising situations, life or death choices, and a discovery of in-depth feelings about oneself and others! Battling monsters of myth and demons! Throughout, the book is chock full of some of the most hilarious snarky conversations and scenes! This one will definitely have you spitting out your drink or food, snort laughing until you cry, or having to jump up and make a mad dash to the “library”! You DO NOT want to miss this part of the journey! But hold on…the ending will give you a premiere of what is in store for Hazel and company…it will be the BIGGEST, BADDEST, nasty of them all…DANIKA!!! NEED IT NOW!!!
It’s been a little bit since I’ve read a book in this series, so I was excited to see a new one. Hazel is still her old snarky self, and she’s up to her neck in trouble, a habit it seems. Her and Sissily are so much fun, and add in pigeon…er, ah, River, and we have a great time. While there wasn’t much furthering the plot, this was a wild ride of action, humor, and interesting revelations. I’m waiting for the next book with bated breath to see what everyone will get up to next. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Hazel and Sissily are back! Lesson number 21, grab this series! Again there were so many pockets of humour, add the trouble Hazel always finds herself in, its a real pick me up read! And boy does Hazel have her hands full in the trouble department, no mater how hard she tries its right around every corner, but with Sissily and River by her side, she'll make sure to kick butt and take names to save her friends!
Great book.
I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Book three! I love how much this story and ploy have progressed.setting out on one's own and taking charge this book has it all. Must read these in order
