Anna and Beth are best friends from the time they started parochial school together. They have remained friends all these years through high school, college, and beyond. Nothing can separate them, until cancer takes the life of Beth.

Now, grieving, Anna goes away to Martha's Vineyard to have some time to herself. While there, she reflects on her life and her friendship. How will she ever get along without Beth?

A bit slow to start, but once into it, this is a little gem of a book (it could be read in a few hours). Emotional with overtones of the spiritual, it shows the interconnections of their lives on earth, and maybe even the eternal. A tear-jerk of a debut novel.

Had this book for several years, why did I wait so long?

Book about losing a lifelong friend to cancer and trying to deal with it. This is one of those spiritual novels that you want to believe, kind of a "Touched By An Angel" story.

Very good book. I think I'll have to reread it because I think I missed some important factors. I loved the concept though and the writing style was awesome too.
