THE RELUCTANT APPRENTICE : Vol 1
From 1940 to 1973 the United States used a device called the draft to ensure that individuals would participate in military service. This was very unpopular, and many people objected to being drafted against their wishes into military service. Katherine “Kat” Martin is a nursing student in college long after 1973 and is drafted into service. She didn’t request this, nor was she ever given a chance to reject it.
She is assigned to a master to learn a trade that completely disrupts her life. While continuing to work toward completing her nursing program, situations arise that create barriers to that effort as well in her life as she knew it.
In a very short period of time, she must learn how to deal with extremely difficult situations, or people will die. It seems that every time her life settles down, chaos is right around the corner.
Her support group is quite small. Gary Bancroft is her master and although supportive has few answers to her questions. Samantha “Sam” Bowers is her roommate and while trying to support her, questions almost everything she does.
This story is filled with many adventures and the humorous ways that a college coed who grows up much faster than anyone should deal with them.
