Myles Moore, a twenty-eight-year-old African-American man living in a suburb of Philadelphia, is at a crossroads. Despite his attempts to convince himself that there is virtue in solitude, he has recently seen his brother and his best friend find loving relationships, making it harder than ever for him to be alone.
But one day everything changes in an instant when a magical summer breeze wafts into his life carrying upon it the sweetest symphony his ears have ever heard . . . the voice of Marisa Marrero. Marisa appears to be perfect-she's gorgeous, funny, smart, and successful-but she's also human.
In exchange for the partnership he always wanted, Myles will have to put aside his male ego long enough to try to understand the complex person behind the mysterious woman he claims to love. In a novel filled with fresh, sensitive, and intelligent characters, and witty dialogue, Marcus Major writes with stylish rhythm and good humor, delivering a novel of intriguing depth.
I enjoyed each character which is a rare thing, wanted the male character to have more backbone but when you dealing with a strong beautiful women I get it
Good Peoples by Marcus Major was so deliciously 90s with mentions of beepers for significant others to track each other down, searching for phone numbers in a Rolodex, and my favorite: an expansive CD collection, and loaning out CDs. I still have my 300+ CD collection, though all I do with them these days is pull them out for Instagram challenges or just to look at liner notes for nostalgic purposes.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. It was refreshing to read a novel with a Black male protagonist with plenty of insecurities, almost too many insecurities. Maybe I think too many because I’m accustomed to reading about alpha males and their like-minded friends, whether written by women or men, and even (especially) in romance novels.
I enjoyed the book and especially seeing Myles M. Character mature throughout the book. I think he grew for Love and the person he thought was his special one..!
For awhile, I wasn’t sure, but the ending completely got me. Also I learned the difference between when some guys are joking around and when they are completely serious

This was a cute story about a guy, who is trying to find "the one". Myles Moore is a teacher and is ready to settle down with the woman of his dreams, he meets Marisa Marrero at a party, and after meeting and dating her for a short time, he decides she is the one, but there are lots of ups and downs in their dating relationship. check this one out to find out what happens. Does Myles get the girl or not....... I gave this book 3 stars.
I read this book in 2006 and thought the story was pretty good. I didn't enjoy the characters, Myles & Marisa, or their story as much as I did Kenya & Amir's. From what I can recall, Myles seemed too soft and needy while Marisa was too feisty with an unpredictable attitude.
I enjoyed this book. I just loved laughing at the character Ibyn...he has the best lines. A character does not need to be in every chapter as long when he comes in, he brings it. A good read so colorful.
This was a good, sweet story. I love old school books. Miles was the ultimate gentleman. Marissa gave him a run for his money. Value friendship and love at all times.
