Sin #3

Miss Sin

Rate this book
I’m so sick of watching the world spin by, of letting people think I’m plain and boring, too afraid to just be myself.

Then I see him—John.

He’s strength, and fury, and unapologetic. He’s everything I want. And everything I wish I was.

He won’t want me, but that doesn’t matter. The sight of him is all the inspiration I need to finally shatter this glass house I’ve built around myself.

Only he does want me. And when our worlds collide, details we can’t see become tangled, twisting together, ensnaring us in an invisible trap.

When it all goes wrong, I don’t know if I’ll be able to break free of the chains binding us or if I’ll suffocate in the process.

Nora is a shy, keep to herself, never get into confrontation with people so she has the same routine nothing ever changes. Until she sees John roughing up some guy who’s causing problems outside of Marie’s House. When she sees him she wants to be someone John could be with not a nobody a shadow. So she changes up her life to become Brave Nora. John noticed her that first day and he knows he needs to be around her more. When they finally get together it’s fire and he makes sure she knows she’s his! What happens when exs cause problems? What happens when you finally get your self confidence and become the bad ass you always should have been!?

When I tell you John is the HOTTEST walking red flag that is so green I mean it! Holy moly I am obsessed! This is story was amazing! I can’t even tell you how much I fell in love with the character development! Nora and John both grew so much! I am obsessed and John is mine! I also love the crossover from the other Sin books! I also love the new characters that came into!! SJ you killed it with this one!!

Remember in Mr. Sin (book 1 of the Sin series), when Vincent stormed into the room demanding... "Who. The f*ck. Is John?"

Well, Miss Sin (book 3) answers that question, and more!

John is everything you want in an OTT, J/P male MC. When Nora (our female MC) confesses, "I'm not tough. I'm not an alpha." John responds, "Don't worry, Darling. I'm alpha enough for the both of us." And is he ever!

I loved this book and the relationship between John and Nora. It's opposites attract, and then ignite and then set the rest of the book on fire. There was action, revenge, loads of humor, visits from our previous characters in the Sin series, and enough steam to melt your Kindle!

Another fabulous book from S.J. Tilly, and I can't wait to see what comes next.

I’ve been intrigued by John ever since we met him in Mr Sin, which is his sister Sasha story. So I was excited to start his book.

I feel like I’m definitely in the minority here with my rating, but I was really enjoying this book until John majorly f**ks up. I feel like he should of trusted Nora & his gut that she was innocent. I don’t feel like he grovelled ENOUGH in my honest opinion, she forgave him far too easily.

My heart broke for Nora, because she was such a great heroine, I loved how she had insecurities but at the same time tried to step out of her comfort zone a little. There were times I wish she had stood up for herself a bit more, and made John work harder for her forgiveness.

I’m really intrigued by Tye & I can’t wait for his story.

oh jesus.

Seeing all my men : Vincent, Eric, Angelo, John and Tye together in action in that one chapter was everything I ever needed to witness.

And oh fuck. I'm such a goner for Eric the bodyguard we first meet in Sasha's book (H sis) and to see him even for just those few moments was so much more than I ever hoped.

I would've rated this 3 stars but when you throw my husband's sentence so casually and out of the blue without any warnings about the fact that I'm gonna get reminded of Warner, you can bet all your money on my bias that I'm never gonna rate you low.

The fact that the h said this to the H rather than the other way around??

After pulling the blankets over him I whisper, “Can you lift your hips for me?”

Ufffff

Anyways, WHEN AM I GONNA GET MY BABY ERIC'S BOOK????😫😫😫😫

-------

“Little Bird, if you don’t want to wake up handcuffed to the bed, you’re gonna want to get your ass over here.”
I think my heart stops.
Handcuffs? Would he really do that?
John heaves out a breath. “Okay, fine, you little deviant. If you don’t get over here, I’ll never use my handcuffs on you.”

::::

His forehead presses harder against mine. “I can’t take another day of you ignoring me. Of you icing me out. Rage at me. Yell. Hit me. Just don’t shut me out. Please, Little Bird. I can’t lose you.”
My fingers curl into John’s shirt even as I shake my head. “I need to be New Nora. Brave Nora.”
John’s grip shifts to my chin, and he tips my head back until I can see his eyes. “You are brave. And the world doesn’t need a new Nora. It just needs you.”

-------

EDIT :
Ok so great news : Just got confirmation from the author that there would be no Eric's book.
Gotta go, jump off a cliff now.

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

The begining of the book was okay, I could get past John's weird possessiveness and his use of FBI to stalk girl he likes but the end where Nora does not really stand up for herself and forgives him way to easily after he treated her like a criminal for absolutely no reason except his trust issues and the way he compares her to a criminal he dated was the one thing that ruined this book for me. The other thing that ruined was the fact that Nora forgave him way too easily and that ruined her character development for me, while I get she is trying to change and be braver but forgiving somebody that treated you that bad is not it for me

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 5 STARS

I enjoyed the heck out of listening to this story. Aiden Snow and Michelle Sparks did an excellent job of bringing not just their main characters to life, but secondary characters as well. I’m not actually surprised that I enjoyed them both because I’ve already had plenty of experience listening to them both narrate different stories.

STORY REVIEW & RATING: 4 STARS

You guys! I really enjoyed this story!

I liked the development of Nora’s character. Everything felt organic and realistic for who she was and who she wanted to become.

I liked John’s aggressive alpha-ness and dominance. It suited him perfectly, and it fit the story perfectly as well. There were a few times I rolled my eyes because alpha jumped to rude caveman bs, but it wasn’t enough to dislike him in general.

The chemistry between Nora and John was intense from the get-go and that also fit their character and the story very well. They were volcanic and I was all over that!! Their banter, especially at the beginning, held so much chemistry that they made me LOL a lot!

I’m not going to give away the plot because there’s a mystery running alongside the romance journey and you don’t need any details about that ruined for you but, one thing I will say is that I really dislike weak plot-points. If you’re going to put something in a story, do it right. So, I’m not happy about how this was all written because it comes across as lazy and weak but I really liked this story in general. I’m disappointed I didn’t have the time to start this series from the beginning, but it’s going on my TBR now.

**Fanning myself with my Kindle**

I thought Vincent(Mr. Sin, Book 1) and then Angelo(Sin Too, Book 2) were these hot, strong, powerful, alpha possessive men, S.J. gives us John.

John is ..well, he is the ideal Alpha Man!(In my eyes) With possessive tendencies that give you every single GD red flag in the book and you cannot resist. He is the brother of Sasha, Vincent Mazzaniti's wife, a FBI Agent and from previous books we knew he came off a overbearing and protective but to see this interaction with someone he needs/wants, Nora, GAME OVER!

Nora is your sweet, shy, insecure female who wants to break this mold as she is tired of being seen this way or not seen at all. While volunteering at Marie's House, she sets eyes on John and something sparks in here to make a change. *Insert nipple piercings* Although, she feels she could never be good enough for John and he would never notice her, we know the opposite as from that the first time he says, "Nora" which leaves her breathless, he needs/wants her.

When they finally get together....you..will..NOT..be disappointed! I think I re-read that scene like a million times because it was just that GD good! The chemistry between these two was AMAZING! However, this is not all rainbows and butterflies and even though the chemistry is off the charts, John and Nora are hit with some obstacles, exes and well, it's not a normal type of ex.

I savored this read! I did not want it to end one bit! Am I sad that I am done reading it, yes, but will I re-read again...HELL YES ! Did John beat out my love for Vincent, yes...yes he did! I cannot wait for more from, S.J.!!!!

Oh hot damn, this is my jam.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

This book was fire. All things hot and spicy 🌶.

John is everything I hope for in a strong alpha male character. And Nora is so similar to me it’s uncanny.

This book is jam packed with action, suspense, drama, and the hottest spicy scenes 🥵. I plowed through this book in about 4.5 hours and I’m ready to read it all over again.

SJ Tilly knows what she’s doing and if you haven’t read anything by her, you are missing O.U.T. The characters are well developed, her chapters are the perfect length to keep you engaged, and there’s never a dull moment.

Miss Sin is a work of fucking art. Do yourself a favor and read this. Right now. (Or on 10/29/21 when it’s available 😜)

Now go, read, be a ‘good girl’ (or boy, or enby, or…) You know you wanna….

They can’t all be winners. I’ve been trying to read this since it came out. I just kept stopping after only making it a few pages. I’ve enjoyed all the books I’ve read by this author. Mr. Sin was one of my favorites from last year. This just wasn’t grabbing me. I finally decided to persevere through. I don’t mean to imply this book is bad but I didn’t like it. It was fine, I was going to give it a solid 3 stars until the end when the author took a loathsome shortcut I wish would be banished from romancelandia.

So John’s got it going on. He had a lot of qualities that I adore in my heroes. Still he wasn’t quite working for me. It sucks but I can’t articulate exactly why he was a miss for me but there was something lacking for me. Nora is a sweet, skittish heroine. She was okay, not great, not terrible, just meh.

This book heavily leans on a standard romance trope which also happens to be one of my least favorites. It’s not a miscommunication but rather it’s twin sister - lack of communication. Nora finds herself in a bit of an awkward predicament. At first her not telling John is fairly reasonable. They are strangers. They get acquainted pretty quickly though. Nora still doesn’t say anything despite her work situation being an ongoing thing.

Then this book takes an enormous leap of logic, that isn’t logical. John’s got his own problems going on. One of his work buddies wonders aloud if he’s crazy ex and Nora know each other - even though there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO evidence to suggest this. Not even a teeny tiny baby crumble. So John automatically suspects Nora despite there being no evidence to suggest this. His solitary suspicion is that he met Nora right when his problem started. Mr. Brilliant detective completely discards the fact that Nora is friends with HIS SISTER. That creates a Grand Canyon sized plot hole the author conveniently ignores.

Still, I was going to go with 3 stars, despite crossing the Grand Canyon to suspend my disbelief. The book is well written. I’ve enjoyed the other books I’ve read by S. J. Tilly and while I wasn’t loving the story in the same way, this was fine. So where did we lose a star? Let me lay it out.

John Boy messes up, even glossing over or completely ignoring that his mess up relied on a massive plot hole - HE MESSED UP. John needed to grovel. John even accosted Nora in her home and told her, I’m ready to grovel. Nora said - I’m not ready for your groveling, she’s still too messed up over his betrayal. He said - ok I’ll wait. They also prematurely banged which is obnoxious because while I love lots of spicy scenes in my books I don’t believe in rewarding bad behavior. John didn’t deserve to lick her feet at that point.

So a week passed and Nora signals to John that she’s now ready for him to grovel. They arrange to meet. Cartoon caricature evil OW appears to wreck the day. People get shot. Being shot magically bandaids the bad deed and no grovel. Having someone get shot is not a substitute for a grovel. Shame on you.

JOHN OWNS MY HEART. You guys, S.J always brings us amazing men with all the heat. But when I tell you that John brings it to a whole other level…🥵🥵🥵 He had me PANTING so hard for him I would’ve given anything to take Nora’s place as his woman.

Soooo here’s the dirty details. John is a super hunky FBI agent that specifically works in the world of criminal organizations. Of course he is a badass super protective & possessive man that you can’t help but be attractive to. John and Nora end up meeting at John’s sisters safe house for women & children. Nora is a volunteer there when she is not working at her day job as a manager at an insurance company. Nora is pretty much the complete opposite of John. Where he is rugged, bold & VERY alpha… she is kind, gentle & hates confrontation.

There is an instant connection/attraction between these two when they first meet. Neither of them can get the other out of their heads, so when opportunity strikes let’s just say it gets hot🔥. I loved everything about this book. The plot was full of twists & drama that you didn’t see coming. The relationship development between John & Nora was just beautiful to witness. I loved that they each challenged each other. The angst was so heartbreaking for me because Nora deserved the world & let’s just say John ended up needing to do some groveling. I can’t say enough good things about this book or the Sin series in general. I can promise you that you’re gonna want these men in your life & on your shelves🖤👏🏻

If you love a jealous/possessive Hero who doesn't hesitate to misuse his FBI agent resources to ensure that the heroine is his and his alone....well then John in the perfect Hero for you (and me 😍)

I was already a huge fan of the Sin series and could not wait to get my hands on this book. And no surprise, it did not disappoint!

John it my favorite type of Hero - the sexy alpha who's protective, jealous/possessive and hot as hell in bed (and storage rooms 🔥). When John and Nora (h) first cross paths the attraction is instant but it's something both attempt to ignore. Luckily, they aren't very good at ignoring each other and things heat up quickly (no slow burn here 😁).

Nora is such a great h. She starts off shy and a little introverted but has challenged herself to be a "New Nora" , a Nora who takes chances, puts herself out there and enjoys life more. And part of putting herself out there means dating right? Well, not if John has anything to say about it! 🔥 🥵 🔥

Loved watching these two come together! Amazing addition to the series and I can't wait for the next book (different H and h)

I had a great time with this audiobook!

Nora was a very cute and likeable character, I related to her feeling shy and boring and wanting to be a more confident version of herself. Plus John, whew. Despite having a boring name (sorry to the Johns out there), he was 🥵🥵🥵. I did not expect that of Sasha’s FBI agent brother. Sure, their relationship wasn’t very deep (emotionally, anyway 😆) but to be honest that’s not what I was after when I picked up this book. The story drama was also OTT but in an engaging way.

Downside — I did not love the third act conflict. There were tears on my part , but overall I really enjoyed this one.

The story starts off slow, making you wonder if Nora truly has that strong main-character energy. But as the layers peel back, it becomes clear that she’s more than meets the eye—earning the name Artemis. John does have to grovel for her forgiveness, though, in my opinion, not quite enough!

OH MY GOD. THIS BOOK.

@sjtillyauthor 💕💕💕 I love you. Seriously. What a page turner!

I have so many questions and thoughts.

But first, POSSIBLE SPOILER: JOHN KNOWS PEOPLE. HE WAS STATIONED IN CHICAGO. THE DIAMOND. HE KNOWS DOM! 😱😱😱😱😱 I am now officially dead.

Okay. Sorry. Miss Sin was amazing.

Nora feels plain. Mousy. Boring. Stagnant. She has VERY intense eye contact with John through a window, then up close and decides to begin to be brave, thinking she could never be what John wanted.

Girl was so wrong.

Speaking of John, his possessiveness is what the romance girlies call 💕girl dinner 💕

So we get the romance. We get the spice. We get feminism. We get a hottie FBI agent. A psycho ex- hookup. A HILARIOUS rando "date" - seriously, milk?! We get so much from this story, and I'm telling you, I loved it.

My only question now is how do I find Tae's book. I need to look if MY QUEEN has written it.

Another thing I liked is we saw characters from the first two books, too.

I am once again telling you, if you like hetero love, SJ Tilly writes some bangers. They're romance, but we always have a bad guy, and there is always something happening that pushes the plot along.

I sort of wanted to be Nora's friend. She was awesome.

I need to sleep, but I had to post this because wow. Another top-tier story!

Alright, I need to rant.
At the end of the second book we get an epilogue indicating that this book was gonna be between an FBI agent and a mafia Girl, and you can imagine my excitement right? Because in the previous book the girl was introduced in the epilogue I just thought yeah then this makes sense. Look, I can’t say this book wasn’t well written or anything, but I read the other two, which were like, in the exact same mindset of this one. Yeah I get that the theme was set but why would you add that epilogue and get me all excited and then come forward and say INSIDE THE BOOK “that happens only in movies” I just can’t ok? I started this book only to be disappointed. And the title, come on. You can’t tell me it fits with the character you had inside this. It’s like the author had the idea but couldn’t execute it and just used the illusion of it.

It’s a good one as a standalone and if you are not familiar with the previous books, but I strongly suggest you don’t read all three after one and other.
The thing is, it has action, it’s spicy and very romantic. It’s NOT at all a bad book. It’s just not fulfilling the potential that was created for it from the epilogue. I love that I get to know John, but I waited for something more and didn’t get it.

Really good

I didn't know if I would like this book much. I have a hard time finding books that portray the right balance (for me, anyway) between wallflower shy and doormat. Plus, I really need to be in the mood for this kind of book. Another thing, I really didn't like the other series this author wrote, so I was more than a bit skeptical.

But I loved it. I mean, there are some things I would wish differently - like more groveling. But I really liked Nora and John. I liked how the story played out. I've read Book 1 and it was good. I liked this better. I haven't read Book 2. I might pick it up to see if it holds with the other two. But I'm definitely getting the next one.

reading this has given me a nostalgic feeling, it reminds me of romance slash erotica works of 2010. love at first sight plots don't bother me at all but the main characters don't even have personalities. the plot would've made more sense then maybe idk. also is tye fruit or something, what do you mean exotic? anyways.

yet another fantastic book from this author- loved it!

This book was fantastic, I was both intrigued and mesmerised from the very beginning. The storyline keeps you on the edge if your chair, loved the suspense and mystery.
This book takes you on a huge journey of ‘omg’ lows to ‘yay’ highs with hot AF steamy scenes thrown in for balance.
I couldn’t put it down until the very last word.
John, the Alpha grumpy FBI agent and Nora the quiet and fascinating FMC. It’s a fantastic mix.
Can’t wait to read more books from this author - just love her style of writing with the level of detail, emotion and humour all mixed into a balanced and well written storyline- perfection.

Oh. My. Gosh.

This book!!

🔥🔥🔥🔥

I absolutely loved this addition to the Sin Series!!!

Nora is shy and not used to showing her true self.
John is an alpha male FBI Agent who is not afraid to take what he wants. The journey their story takes is truly perfection. I loved seeing the character development of both Nora and John.

I remember back in Mr. Sin wanting to know more about who John was and SJ Tilly
DE👏🏼LI👏🏼VERED👏🏼
She knows how to write a hot, sexy man, who is large and in charge 🥵🌶

“Don’t worry Darling, I’m alpha enough for the both of us.”

This book has everything; spice, comedy, romance, action. I fell in love.
A MUST read!!!
