For over thirty years, Nobel Prize winner David H. Hubel has been at the forefront of research on questions of vision. In Eye, Brain, and Vision , he brings you to the edge of current knowledge about vision, and explores the tasks scientists face in deciphering the many remaining mysteries of vision and the workings of the human brain.
Very good popular science book. It can be downloaded for free from authors site. It should be read by everyone who thinks that computer vision should work the same way as humans. It gives great insight in humans reception and understanding.
Took me back to when I, briefly, subscribed to Scientific American. Mostly over my head, but what few strands of pasta stuck to the wall were fascinating. As an owner/operator I am generally interested in brain function and will continue to read up on the topic. I can imagine returning to this volume again.
David Hubel's very clear overview of vision is worth a read. I used this book as a starting textbook for a class. They loved it. In part because you can access the entire book online for FREE. The book is out of print, and is available from David Hubel's website.
