Amy L. Lansky

Amy Lansky grew up in a suburb of Buffalo, New York. She graduated from the University of Rochester in 1977 with degrees in mathematics and computer science, and she received her doctorate in computer science from Stanford University in 1983.

After many years working at various Silicon Valley research institutions (including SRI International, NASA Ames Research Center, and three years as a consulting associate professor at Stanford), Lansky made an unusual career move: she became a student, writer and promoter of homeopathic medicine. This was prompted by the miraculous cure of her son's autism with homeopathy. This experience prompted her to write Impossible Cure: The Promise of Homeopathy (www.impossiblecure.com), now one of the best-selling introductory books about homeopathy worldwide, with translations into several foreign languages. Lansky is dedicated to helping others -- especially families with autistic children -- discover the curative powers of homeopathy.

Lansky's homeopathic studies have included foundational course work with Misha Norland's School of Homeopathy in Devon, England; completion of the Homeopathic Master Clinician's course with Louis Klein; and studies with Simon Taffler, Sadhna Thakkar, Jan Scholten, and Alize Timmerman. For two years she served as coeditor of The American Homeopath, the journal of the North American Society of Homeopaths.

In December 2003, Lansky joined the board of the National Center for Homeopathy in Alexandria, Virginia and served on the board executive until 2011. She also helped to found and was an executive board member of the California Health Freedom Coalition from 2001-2005. This is the organization that sponsored SB-577, the California health freedom bill that was passed in September 2002. As part of this legislative process, Lansky testified before a California Senate hearing on alternative medicine.

Much of Lansky's current work involves promoting homeopathy through lectures, interviews, and columns, and providing general guidance and referrals to parents through email. She does not, however, treat patients herself. Lansky's monthly radio show on homeopathy can be found on Autism One Radio (aired the third Friday of each month). This show provides an excellent and free short course for those wishing to learn more about homeopathy. It can be found at www.autismone.org or via www.impossiblecure.com.

www.impossiblecure.com also includes a link to newsletters, the "Cure Stories" database that provides first-person testimonials of other people's experiences with homeopathy, an advice page for parents with autistic children, and pointers to practitioner referrals.

In 2011, Amy Lansky published her second book:
Active Consciousness: Awakening the Power Within (www.activeconsciousness.com), now one of the most exciting, far-ranging, and accessible books available on the topic of consciousness, spirituality, meditation, and the evolution of human awareness. It draws upon Lansky's interest in paranormal phenomena, her expertise in alternative medicine, her meditation studies, and even her research experience in artificial intelligence. Comprehensive, yet at the same time accessible and personal, this book invites you to not only learn about these mysterious subjects, but to develop the power of active consciousness for yourself. By including a series of exercises and experiments in meditation and self-inquiry, Active Consciousness provides an experience that helps readers evolve to a new level of awareness.

I read this book after my son started homeopathic treatment for autism and it does an excellent job of explaining what homeopathy is and helped reassure me that this is something "real". The book is very well-written, heavily footnoted, and shows very clearly that homeopathy is a science that should be taken seriously.

Great book on homeopathy. I had no idea there were double blind placebo controlled studies of homeopathy published in peer reviewed journals. This simple treatment really can work to heal people. I hope I can learn to select the right remedy for people the first time.

The beginning of this book is pretty dry.. I have to get on it and finish it though. I love homeopathy, good stuff! Works for us : )

I have mixed feelings about this book. It did give me a lot of insight regarding the logic of homeopathy treatments and especially about the way they are prepared and why they can impact our bodies even though there are no discernible particles of the initial active ingredient left by the end of dissolving it a million times. I was amazed to read that the electromagnetic energy of the solution can be measured, recorded, and sent through an email to treat a person at the other end of the world.
That said, the ramblings about the harmfulness of vaccines and the abundant praise to God put me off. One cannot try to present a supposedly scientific book, while simultaneously filling it with a bunch of religious mumbo-jumbo or outright denial of practices that have been saving lives for ages. I wouldn't suggest this book to people who don't have a firmly formed opinion about the absolute need for vaccination - in case they would be swayed by her arguments, each one of them would contribute to needlessly endangering humanity for reasons that we were supposed to have left behind a long time ago.

Excellent book for anyone. Clearly explains homeopathy with plenty of examples of both clinical research and personal experiences. It makes the concepts of strengthening the body rather than fighting the germs easier to grasp than many other books I have read.

It is a well written, logical account that holds the reader's interest. The description of her own son's healing is amazing, but she also shares the experiences of others to give a more rounded view of what is possible with homeopathy.

For those open to new ideas, this book is a fantastic introduction to homeopathy and the reasons so few Americans know about it though it is used around the world.

This book was helpful in understanding homeopathy for a lay person. I appreciated the clear explanations of provings and remedies. The author's information helped me as I continue my own journey to help with a chronic illness. It was my second book on the subject.

The book had many repetitions within it that made it more cumbersome to read. One of the early chapters was a summation of each chapter. This was totally unnecessary and though you could skip that chapter, I found the same sort of introduction to the next chapter at the end of the previous chapter.

Subject matter deserves four stars. The cumbersome writing brings it down to a 3.

This is a great into to whomever is interested in learning about homeopathy as a form of medicine.
You'll learn how it works, the science behind it, its history and why so many people are unaware of this powerful form of medicine.
Amy Lansky makes this rather scientific topic a very easy and enjoyable read, while giving some of her own experiences, which makes the read a lot more powerful.

A comprehensive introduction to the art of homeopathy - history, philosophy, anecdotes, legality (though dated, as the book was published in the early 2000s) - all well documented. Very readable, especially for one who is interested in the topic.

Incredibly thorough introduction to homeopathy. Even advanced beginners can learn from this book and fill in the gaps that workshops or online classes leave behind.

This book is FANTASTIC! As a scientist, Dr. Lansky analyzes homeopathy through that perspective. Still, the book is not too "over your head" for most people. The book is very well done, and designed so that you can skip around to the chapters you're most interested in. I love the testimonial chapter that she included, very eye-opening. I do hope she updates the book with a new edition on the science of homeopathy, as several notable studies and more research have since been done verifying homeopathy, since we now have more advanced technology that has observed remnants of source material in highly succussed substances. Still, I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in homeopathy. It has everything in it that you could want to know, except miasm theory. It's an excellent read, very informative, and also very encouraging if you deal with chronic illness.

Dnf. Made it to page 70, couldn't keep going. I don't consider my son being autistic "heartbreaking". I also don't consider autism a disease. A few of the things the author said made me pretty angry, decided not to continue.

Thought provoking for sure, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing. The book is a good intro, complete in scope, comprehensive and intelligently written. I like the indictment of western medicine with its shortcomings. But coaxing the vital force should probably not be something we take lightly or think we understand too readily. Further investigation may only raise more mystery. That it works for some is obvious and it seems that witnessing the healing effectiveness of a remedy is the necessary step into adopting homeopathy for most. I would have to agree that that is probably what it would take for me.

I have studied homeopathy for 12 years and Amy's book has the ability to distill a very deep subject that takes years of study into a very simple, easy to understand read for those interested in learning more about homeopathy. It is easy to follow and understand and has lots of personal experiences from others who also belong to the "Impossible Cure" crowd. This book deserves the praise it is getting. I hope you read it!
