Possibly the simplest text by an 'expert' on a supposedly complex subject. Prof. Bhaduri has demystified the apocalyptic reality we are currently living in.

As the book reads 'a case for full employment', it presents an alternative policy which the government can feasibly make to ensure full employment in a country with the largest number of starving people on the planet. An excellent book by one of India's best economist. His claim that - full employment is not a utilitarian concept, is rightly proven.

As mentioned in the back cover, the author is really an unconventional but sensible economist have clear cut vision of development in the country like India, tries to argue against the development scheme proposed by the ideology of both conventional economics which is based on the social structure of western nations, and certain financial institutions like WTO, IMF and world bank etc with sensibility. In this book, the author argues the development with dignity can be made possible by cent percent employment and also give feasible guidelines or pathways for attaining in the social scenario of our country(India).

The author has dealt quite elaborately with the fallicies in the existing economic structure. He has tried to strike a fine balance between the market-reforms oriented right and the welfare state-oriented left . Till the gap between economic democracy and participative democracy is not bridged , we will continue to give doles to the unemployed and poor in the form of income transfers increasing out deficits . Denying them from contributing in the developmental process.
