Sadie
Hooking up with my brother’s two best friends was a bad idea.

But when the guy I’ve crushed on for ages stumbles on my stash of toys, and offers to teach me how much fun they are with a partner, there’s no way I’m saying no.

Especially when his boyfriend wants to watch.

It's just a one-time thing, though. Which is good, because I need headspace to focus on the Hollywood designer who’s trying to scam me and others like me out of our hard-earned money. She’s making my life a living hell for exposing her to the internet.

Jax and Grayson offer a tempting distraction by exposing me. In my bedroom. At a company holiday party…

If I can’t unravel how I feel about them, and sift through the Hollywood-style legal trouble we’ve brought crashing down around us, the only things I’ll be getting for Christmas are a broken career and a shattered heart.

I got this book because it was free on Amazon for a bit and it ended up being a sweet and fun and slightly steamy poly romance!

I loved how this book is super geeky. It captures pretty well what being a famous YouTuber is like, including all of the unsavory parts (like creeps giving you rape threats because they don’t like what you posted). It also explored how people take advantage of and try to exploit young creators.

I think it’s wild that in such a short book the author managed to actually make me feel the love between the three characters. I’ve read numerous 300+ page romance books that haven’t convinced me anyone actually loves each other.

I do wish the book was a tad longer. And that I got more concrete answers on what happened with the court case.

If you like books with hints of second chance romance, hints of ‘brother’s best friend’ trope, a couple steamy scenes, nerdy gaming talk, and a sweet HEA then you’ll probably enjoy this book!

I enjoyed this so much more than I expected. It was a fabulously sexy, geeky, poly, erotic book. There are some real moments, some deliciously sexy scenes and they are all geeks of a form. I enjoyed how some of the unsavoury parts of Hollywood were added in there and the look at the darker side of being a Youtuber. Loved the gamer geek stuff, nothing better. It was short but the romance and the feelings actually felt real.
Would absolutely read more by this author.

Cute, fast, and fun! Also very hot. Sex scenes are always a hit or miss but the author mostly made it work here. Mostly. The word 'nub' is not sexy lmao.

Sadie, Jax, and Grayson are all likable and fun to follow, the entire friend group feels nice and supportive but also sufficiently geeky. The nerd/pop culture angle was fun and didn't feel forced or gimmicky which was nice, and the blend/balance of career plot and romance plot was pulled off well too.

I'm surprised just how many plot elements the author managed to include here in such a short book without it feeling forced or crowded. Everything established for future stories was nice too.

I'm glad I picked this up free and I will probably continue the series!

I know it seems silly to stop at that point, but I lost all respect for the relationship and it’s HEA.

The book is presented as a geek-fest, with an emphasis on cosplay and gaming.
Nope.
It has a shallow backdrop for the plot, but no details, no lifestyle, nothing that couldn’t be fitted into any other contemporary story format.
The story itself was 80% sex, with artificial angst to begin with, and reader angst to end with.

The first hold up making me eye roll every time it was mentioned.
This combined with the lack of world building and story, left it all smut and mostly boring.

Then the big angst, which was brushed over by the FMC as being her fault, leaving me swearing and losing all respect for the MMC’s.

Spoiler 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

Add on to all this, all throughout both guys read as being gay, not bi, with no steam or attraction evident for the FMC.
All the tenderness and romance was saved for the 2 MMC’s, with all interactions with the FMC revolving around sex and it’s lead up.

By the end, I didn’t actually want her to end up with them, and with there being nothing else of substance to the book, hence stopping where I did.

If you ignore my dislike for the context and content, the writing and dialogue were technically good, so I could see this appealing to other readers.
But personally, I found it initially boring, and later, unlikeable characters all around.

A sweet, sexy time that I was wishing was longer.

Honestly, the heroine was likable the guys were swoon-worthy. What more could you need in MMF romance?

Sprinkle in bits of insight on the harmful practices of Hollywood and online media platforms and you have a delicious romance with a little more depth. As I said, I could’ve done with more of this story because I truly did enjoy the bits I got. But I appreciate this short, easy, number nevertheless.

So the description for this story isn’t very accurate. Yes there is sexy time with toys, but there isn’t any teaching and only one toy is used. There isn’t a company office party, it’s a convention type of thing. Also, the fact that the heroine is with two men who are in a relationship, there should have been more than kissing for MM action. I was expecting a lot more sexy times, and for them to be a little more involved. For such a short book, there was too much backstory going on.

10/25/2021 - At 4 hours - Allyson Lindt managed to pack a lot into this MMF novella.

While I enjoyed it and it was a quick and easy listen - Duet Narration! - it felt like so much was thrown out there that Lindt wasn’t able to wrap it up in a completely satisfying way. Deus ex machina.

I like my MMF to feel equal - both in knowing all the characters and in that these three have a solid relationships with each other and as a whole. It was hindered by the fact that the book was entirely from Sadie’s perspective, so Jax & Grayson’s feelings, personalities, etc just weren’t as established for me.

The plot lines were solid starts and I just wish maybe Lindt had picked fewer of them and explored them more. As a gamer, I enjoyed the cosplay, gamer, con themes. The epilogue was cute.

As an MMF fan, I’m am tempted to read another one to see if it’s just a case of “not quite” with this particular story.

Narration:
This was my first time listening to Tippy Robinson & Simon King. While this was duet narration - because the book is only from Sadie’s POV - it’s mainly Robinson narrating with King offering any male spoken lines. King, for what little he appears, has a good voice.

I struggled to connect with Robinson’s. There was nothing overtly wrong that I can pinpoint, it just didn’t work for me. Though - I’m not sure if it was Robinson, the writing, or perhaps the combo of the two. I’d be willing to try her work again and see if I click better there.

Ja. Hmm. Ik was wel verrast hoe makkelijk ik meeging in dit verhaal. Polyamorie staat namelijk niet bovenaan mijn verlanglijstje, maar dit boek vertelt het heel logisch.

Back to the drawing board

The elements of plot and character were there but, too much attention was paid to clutter. Did I need to know about the gaming chairs her friend over extended herself for? Nope. Just say her friend did some needed upgrades, or unneeded, and over extended. But her views on fidelity, jealousy and all that goes into a relationship were needed for the conflict of the story and they weren't there.
Here's how you do it.
At no point in my life have I ever been enough. So, there is no way in the many splendored hall of Hades that I could ever accept a relationship where I wasn't the most important person in my partner's life. And there is no way I'd put up with someone telling me they needed more than I can provide. Relationships are hard between two people. It is a constant struggle and choice to balance what you want and need, what your partner wants and need vs what everyone else wants and needs. It has to be you and them against the world or you will lose their love or they will lose yours.
Can it work with three people, maybe in theory, but the reality is usually a toxic relationship. And honestly, you can find one of those anywhere you don't have to share to do it.
Those are real statements of belief and personal trauma. Issues that would have to be addressed in the story in order to be resolved. Notice I didn't mention traditional values or morality. Because they aren't feelings I really care about. So it would just be mouthing the words with no feelings behind it--just like Sadie and her Barbie girl dreams.
Besides Sadie who isn't really likeable there is no detail given to any of the characters. They act the same and it doesn't matter who is speaking they are cardboard cut outs. Ann and Lynn don't need to be two people. Chase doesn't need to be there and Gary doesn't add anything but another eggplant. So you really have a story about Jax and Sadie that isn't even mediocre.

This little novella was so good. Potentially the best I’ve ever listened to. Duet narrated and about 4 hours long it was amazing. I am shocked at how well the author wrote the characters and made you feel the love between them. In such a short amount of time I feel like I got to know them and believe in their love. I loved Sadie and the guys. I could definitely tell where the issues were coming from and thought for a minute that it wasn’t going to be an HEA.. I got concerned.. I will 100% be continuing with series and cannot wait to read about Anne’s story.

Nah. I didn’t really like the main characters. Sadie was stupid and illogical when it came to the guys, and the guys weren’t all that great even. Greyson acted as if he only wanted to be friends with Sadie if they were together, and then blamed her when she didn’t think she wanted that 🙄. Sex was hot, but the characters really brought this down by a star and a half or so.

Was a fun quick read. Low angst and mild spice.

But I like the characters overall, wished we knew a little bit more from her career and how the problem with the cease and disease worked out in the epilogue. It was kind of vague.

Was a fast quick romance. The spicy could have been spicer if your going to make a book this short and have the majority of the book be based around their sex lives.

Too short for me

Man, do I wish this book was a little bit more longer with a little bit more conflict but this is still good for a novella.

Hot. Hot. Hot!

This book was a quick read, I devoured it in less than a day! I loved the characters and the storyline, everything flowed really well and went at a nice pace. I look forward to the other books that I may or may not have already one-clicked from this author!

It was fine. The writing is decent even though I'm pretty sure Content Creators have to work a lot more than was represented. I just never really cared. It felt like I was just supposed to believe everything, I never felt the connections. The thing with the brother was so obvious it was ridiculous, and maybe that's where my biggest problem exists, I needed to suspend a little too much disbelief. But if you are looking for a female centric threesome you could do worse.

I’ve come to the end of this book and I kind of don’t even know what to say about it. I can’t help but imagine being the geek girl who is the focus of these two utterly brilliant men. Men who are determined to show her how much they care for her, admire her, want her. It’s an intoxicating thought. I got carried away with it in much the same way Sadie did. Jax and Grayson have been part of her life, part of her fantasies forever and now she has an unbelievable opportunity to turn fantasy into reality. Reality brings with it emotions and consequences none of them were expecting. I was immediately pulled into their story and I was desperate to find out how they were going to get to their happy ever after. I’m already starting to fall in love with the rest of their supporting cast and anxiously look forward to reading their stories to.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.

It’s was good but it’s lacked in certain aspects. One I would really love it if we have more the one POV, we only had Sadie’s but not Jax or Greyson, that would have been nice to understand from their POVs. Also I get everyone is best friends and Sadie and Chase are brother and sister but the friendships with Jax and Greyson don’t feel like close friendship but more of acquaintances, I didn’t feel no love connection between Jax, Greyson and Sadie.

Narration - 3 stars
Tippy Robinson - It took me a long time to acclimate to this narrator's voice, it just felt flat and emotionless at times, too measured or something.
Simon King - I don't feel like I heard from this narrator to have a real opinion of whether I found his voice appealing or not. It was fine, certainly not difficult to listen to and it was nice to feel the back and forth of the dialogue, though since the entire book is told from Sadie's POV so Jax and Grayson (well really all the male characters) tended to sound the same as they weren't 'on page' long enough to sound like distinct and separate characters.
I've come to realize that duet narration is extremely tricky in that there are inevitable times when the volume, etc. just don't line up.

Story - 3 stars, with hints of 4 stars, though let's be honestly, we all know I didn't pick this one up because I was looking for a scintillating read, it was relatively short, free and promised a good time, which it fell rather short of.
Sadie, internet personality and costumer
Jax, video game sales rep
Grayson, video game competitor turned exhibitionist

There were a lot fewer "teach me/show me" sexy fun times (it starts with a bang and fizzles quickly) and far more miscommunication than I enjoy in a book. There was already a fair bit of plot outside of an internal relationship conflict. I hate meddling siblings, people who expect others to be mind readers, and those that ignore what they are being told so I was in for a bumpy ride.

Had the plot consisted mainly of Sadie and her legal troubles/conflict about what to do about her burgeoning career as she tentatively dips her toe into a situationship turned possible relationship with established couple, Jax and Grayson I'd have been tickled pink. In fact, I started this book with a solid four-star rating in my mind and the idea that I would check out more by the author. Instead she lost the plot with ridiculous miscommunication and the overdone "but a relationship is supposed to be between TWO people" garbage that plagues poly romance and two childish tantrums by the boys that left me wishing a third hero was waiting in the wings. When Sadie actually grovels trying to repair their broken relationship and win Jax and Grayson over I was done.

Bah, I'm tired of typing.

Here's the thing, this is the second audiobook that I've listened to by the author and I've finished both of them feeling pretty meh about the whole experience. I got both for free so I'm not out monetarily, and I got to experience duet narration, which is interesting/different, but it does constitute a pretty big time commitment as I listen exclusively in the car so this represents days of daily commutes to and from work. I'm pretty sure I'm done with this author as there's a huge audiobook world out there with narrators and authors that leave me hanging off their every word, and it would be worth a couple bucks to look forward to my drive rather than just endure it.

I really wanted to like this and I'm very sad writing this review. I am honestly dying for a good polyamorous MFM book with good characters and proper conflict and satisfying resolution. This was not it.

The writing style isn't bad per say but there's something about the descriptions that's missing. It sometimes leave a bit too much to the imagination and I have had issues following up on where they are exactly or what is happening. I have had to re-wind the audiobook a few times to try and peace together what was happening. Partly, this is due to the audiobook issues but 98% of the books I finished this year have been audiobooks I very rarly have issues following up on what's happening, where or how.

The pacing was a bit off a well. Plot was very lackluster. The conflicts were simplistic and miraculously resolved at the end. The whole argument the FMC had about the relationship and the whole misunderstanding was just bad. The story lacked depth and I'd be fine if it was just an erotica but for an erotica, it barely had any spice scenes and the ones that were there were very lukewarm and too fast or not very descriptive. Honestly, this bordelines how guys write erotica. There was nothing sexy, hot or toe curling chemistry or anything that would make me blush or gasp. The stremer aspect was done relatively well. Could have gone in more in-depth and character motivation as it felt very surface level.

I found the FMC super annoying as a protagonist and honestly don't understand what the 2 MMCs see in her. Jackson is writen like a simp with no disting personality traits outside of "he has an office job and has loved me since high-school". Greyson is defined by "sexy retired gamer who helps me get more streming viewers". They both try to behave like adults and be understanding but allow for misunderstandings. Side characters are there serving the plot but with about the same amount of depth as the 3 main leads.

I am really hesitant to continue the series. I did enjoy the gamer/geeky aspect a lot alongside those references. That was one of the few saving graces of this book.

Lastly, the voice acting in the audiobook was just bad. They were both monotonous with random places of exclamation where it didn't make sense to have those. it was just like the book - very lackluster. The male voice actor did do a better job in comparison to the female one (and I loved the deep gravely voice he had) but that's about it. I couldn't properly follow which character was speaking, if it was the female friend or the FMC. Jasckson and Grayson sounded the same as well so if I didn't focus, I'd miss the part where they'd swapped. I think that's a combination of poor indistinguishable dialog and voice when writing but also an issue with the voice actors not even trying to do other voices.

The setup of this one was good, and the characters had nice sparkage, but I thought the story moved too quick to be fully satisfying. This is a rare novella that I wish was longer.

Sadie is a costume designer/YouTuber who's moving out of her apartment into her friend Lyn's place. Her brother's best friend Jax and his boyfriend Grayson are helping her. Sadie's had fantasies about both of them - and when Jax makes it clear his innuendo isn't just flirting but the real deal, they hook up with Grayson as audience.

While I appreciate a "hot start" to an erotic romance, it wasn't until a few chapters in that we learn that Sadie works with Grayson on a day-to-day basis as well, since he models her costumes and they are typically flirting for the camera. After the beginning-book hookup, obviously this flirting shifts into something more. While it's definitely sexy, I wish I got more of the backstory between Grayson and Sadie.

I do give Lindt kudos for writing a menage where the guys are already together, and, it seems, they are very clear that they both want Sadie. Not as a toy, but as a for-real part of their relationship. A lot of the conflict stems from her inability to accept that; in fact, even to be able to picture it. She's got this vision of a one man-one woman wedding in her head to contend with...despite what her heart and certainly her panties are increasingly telling her about what she really wants.

That conflict was the best part, although I do wish we had gotten more backstory about just why both Jax and Grayson want Sadie so much they're willing to change their relationship to make room for her. The other conflict is around Sadie being messed with during a job opportunity, going public with it, and dealing with the fallout. That part resolved too easily in my opinion.

So: the setup, hookup scenes, and conflict (aside from the work thing) are well thought out and land well, but I missed out on key back story that would have made this love story pack a stronger emotional punch. I assume the rest of this series will focus on Sadie's friends, so I'll continue on to see how the other menage romances turn out.
