One of the most interesting thing about this book is that it’s was written in 2009 but it projects into 2032. So it’s a future view based from 2009 knowledge. Covid had not happened, Russia had not invaded Ukraine, the capitol riots had not happened.

The most pressing topic in the book is the environment and that the carbon feedback cycles are much bigger than anticipated. And that the biggest polluters china and US have to come to an agreement. However they don’t manage. And the conflict gets bigger and bigger with a conclusion that San Fran gets A-bombed by China.

There are also some parallel for instance the Taiwan issue, that keeps raring its head in todays politics.

This is largely written as a US written. But I think it was well enough researched to explain Chinese Policy and motivation better. Something I have not read.

The suspense was good and I read the book fast. And I liked the characters.
