I really enjoyed reading this book by Doris Swift. She is real and relatable, sharing great stories from her own life about how her joy was stolen by certain trials. But she points us back to God's Word and gives us renewed reasons to choose joy. This would make a great group study, and it's good for individual use too.

I know that life can steal the joy that we'd like to live with. How exactly do we get that joy back, when things are hard or trials come? Doris Swift's exceptional Bible study, Surrender the Joy Stealers: Rediscover the Jesus Joy in You, leads the student through six weeks of study designed to identify the joy-stealers in our lives, apply the truths of Scripture to them, and draw near to God in a life-changing way.
The six chapters' contents are centered around these words: Reveal, Respond, Receive, Renew, Rest, Reach. Within each chapter, there are 5 days' worth of Bible study. Questions start readers on a path of working through things that steal our joy, whether it's pain from the past or present, habits, or relationships or health challenges. The questions really do make the student stop to think and to pray. And amazingly, heal. All while students draw closer to God.
Wonderful, meaningful, and healing Bible study. I absolutely love it and recommend it highly.

Surrender the Joy Stealers is an engaging new 6-Week Bible Study by Doris Swift, rooted in John 15. It is the perfect Summer read – a time of renewing and new beginning and needed rest for many of us. You’ll enjoy a forward by Suzanne Eller.
I love the pace of this book where each chapter starts with a Scripture-fed prayer, then jumps into studying with Doris' poignant stories full of wisdom, her heart, and humor. She weaves stories and biblical application with wonderful prompts and questions to help us discover where we are at and where we are going.
Doris is so good at teaching us what is stealing our joy and how to get it back. I know for me I have plenty of joy stealers but soon I was soaked in Jesus’s living water.
This is one of those books you can't put down and may find your journaling, highlighting favorite passages, pondering, praying, and allowing yourself to be filled with the joy of Jesus.

This book came along at just the right time for me. I was convicted that my joy was quickly being replaced with agitation. I knew something (me) had to change.
In week 1 Doris says, Anything we allow to sit on the throne of our hearts in God’s place threatens to steal our joy.” Allow being the pivotal word. She then helps us to identify our joy stealers. This process helped me identify what was bothering me — and why.
An important point she makes is that we are supernaturally filled with joy, and we have permission to experience it in all seasons of our lives — in the good and the bad. Joy is not contingent on our personal circumstances or the world’s circumstances. We can control our thoughts.
I’ve found the process Doris takes the reader through to be so helpful in surrendering my joy stealers to the Lord and making room for God’s healing in my heart.

Really great study. It is easy to follow and takes you deep into the Bible, showing you step by step how to let go of the material things that steal your joy, while gaining an everlasting relationship with the one who can bring you true joy that never ends.

Our world is in desperate need of true and lasting joy. Surrender the Joy Stealers is filled with practical tips to help you not only identify the things that rob you of joy, but remove them at their root. I will be recommending this book for years to come.

I am currently reading this book and can’t put it down! I love the biblical perspective of looking within myself and praying to our Lord to show me those joy stealers but also finding solutions to not let anyone or anything steal my joy. A must read if you are wanting to have our Lord joy in your everyday living.

If you're looking for a powerful, relatable Bible study for your next read, look no further. I didn't even realize I'd let my joy fade away one little piece at a time. Now I'm learning to surrender some things that have been stealing my joy, and I needed that:) I highly recommend!
