I don't like cookbooks, but this not a traditional cook book. For example, the late great Lou Reed's recipe for a corned beef sandwich is to go to a New York Deli, preferably with Laurie Anderson as a dinner guest. Now that's my kind of cookbook!

This has many original black and white photographs of the artists who contributed recipes. I bought this just for the Peter Gabriel recipes (he gives two) but my Mom would up stealing the book from me (which is probably why I still have access to it when 95% of my book collection disappeared). She actually made food from some of these recipes. She especially liked some country singer's red velvet cake. Sadly, I never got to taste that cake since I was living in England at the time Mom nicked my book and was too crippled to bake by the time I got my sorry arse back to America.

Also recommended: Randy Newman's Cheese Sandwich.
