Retire Secure! tackles the number one fear facing most IRA and retirement plan running out of money too soon. The book proves that putting money into tax advantaged retirement plans beats "traditional saving" in the after-tax environment. The book sheds new light on best practices for spending your IRA and retirement plan dollars and your traditional savings. Both start saving when they are age 30, but when Mr. Pay Taxes Now reaches age 90, he is broke, while Mr. Pay Taxes Later has $1,946,949 left. Chapter 8 is devoted to a complete case study of "Eddie's and Emily's" entire retirement decision making process. The book is endorsed by more than 31 leading financial experts including Charles Schwab, and Roger G. Ibbotson, Yale Professor and perhaps the world's foremost authority on asset allocation. As a bonus, readers who purchase this book can receive a free information-packed CD."""Retire Secure! I love reading books like this. Its an easy to understand book to maximizing the benefits of IRAs and retirement assists. Jim Lange knows his information and he presents it in layman terms. Its and excellent book for those either in retirement or near retirement. Retirement planning I think can be intimidating because of the rules and options that must be considered. Retire Secure lays them out in a logical easy to follow format. If there is one thing I got out of this book is that the next time I walk into financial advisor or tax accountant office, I will be able to understand retirement lingo on their level. Retire Secure should be the cornerstone of everyone's personal financial library.

ALERT: I read the Second Edition, since it was handy. Estate planning in particular in the Second Edition is now out of date. Get and read the latest Third Edition.

An excellent book. Establishes clear reasoning why you need to use retirement investment vehicles to have a secure retirement. You will want to read it more than once, to properly understand how your choices influence your outcomes. Run out and get your copy of the Third Edition. Mine is on order.

Have a GoodReads and a financially secure retirement!

This was actually a very good book about investing and explains the different investments in fairly easy to understand terms. My uncle just died and he left all his money in a trust. According to this book, that may not have been the best choice because his children were older and may have been able to save money on taxes if it was left to them in other methods.
