When Gerald, Cathy, and Jimmy discover a mysterious castle complete with an invisible princess and a magic ring, they think only happy adventures lie ahead--until the castle's supernatural forces call on all the bravery they can muster.
Lesley dreamed of being a writer, but studied law as her mother insisted she had "something to fall back on". Since joining Usborne Publishing, she has written and edited hundreds of books, from funny rhyming stories to an award-winning history book. Nowadays, she is often found recording books, too, in Usborne's very own recording studio.
I can't speak for the 1907 Edith Nesbit "original book . . . much longer and harder to read than this one." This 2007 condensed version, adapted by Lesley Sims, a small picture book 62 pages, seems less than gripping.
I love this book. The children are so imaginative and willing to take things into their own hands to have a good time. Its a great blend of fantasy and reality (or escape from reality) to take you back to childhood.
