Impromptu

THE Four actors sit on a darkened stage, awaiting the arrival of the stage manager who has called them together. Lacking his authoritative presence they are merely characters in search of a play to become part of, for their own personalities seem unformed and shallow next to the full-blooded figures they are used to playing. They are also "types," and each of them has absorbed most of what he is from what he pretends to be on the stage. As they wait, the stage lights come up—but still no one appears to tell them what they are to do. They know only that they are not to leave the stage until they have "acted out the play." Suddenly becoming aware that an audience is present, the actors decide to improvise, an idea which finds them slightly flustered. Ernest, the "leading man," exercises the prerogative of star billing and assumes command. He plunges ahead, assigning roles to himself and his colleagues—Winifred, who always plays the "leading lady's best friend"; Lora, the struggling ingenue; and Tony, the juvenile lead. The "drama" which unfolds is a mixture of truth, fantasy and well-rehearsed situations, but out of it, in subtle progression, comes a deepening awareness of the real people behind the theatrical facades.This play, conceived in the "Pirandello mode," brings a fresh approach to a timeless theme—what should be the proper ratio of truth vs. illusion in the balanced life?

نمایشنامه دو مرد و دو زن در آکواریوم زیاد برام جذاب نبود اما شعبده و طلسم جالب بود درسته که جمع بندی پایانیش به دل نمیشست اما ارزش خوندن داشت

نمایشی در باب تئاتر و زندگی در تئاتر . این تئوری که تا چه حد مفهوم پدیده تئاتر با مفهوم زندگی همخوانی و نزدیکی دارد . از 2 مرد و 2 رن خواسته میشود که در جلسه ای که در مورد کاری در تئاتر است حضور پیدا کنند و سپس به آنها گفته میشود که باید بداهه ای بر اساس خود زندگی شان بزنند و در واقع خود زندگی را بازی کنند . نمایش خوب آغاز میشود با یک شروع سریع و شخصیت های جالب ولی در پایان بسیار نا امید کننده و ناگهانی به پایان میرسد .

اعتراف می‌کنم دوباره فریب خوردم، چون اسم چیستا یثربی تهش بود گفتم خب نوشته هاش ناامیدت کرده اوکی اینکه ترجمه‌اشه اونم کسی که مدعیه تو تاتر بوده ال بوده بل بوده فلان کرده بهمان کرده حتما چیز بدی انتخاب نمیکنه برای ترجمه کردن...
اه افتضاح بود. تقصیر نویسنده است تقصیر مترجمه تقصیر هردوعه.
خلاصه هیچیشو دوست نداشتم بزور تمومش کردم که تو گوشه تموم نشده ها نمونه

شخصیت‌ها، وارد صحنه تئاتر شده‌اند و به آن‌ها گفته شده که باید بداهه بازی کنند. و بحث‌ها پیرامون مساله بداهه بودن و خود بودن و مرز بین زندگی واقعی و تئاتر است.
آیا می‌شود به تئاتر دیگر تقلیدی از زندگی نباشد بلکه خود زندگی باشد!؟

نمایشنامه روون بود. متن دلنشین و صمیمی‌ای داشت و به نظر ترجمه خوبی هم شده بود. فقط نمی‌دونم که چرا مترجم به‌جای استفاده از واژه بداهه‌پردازی، که ترجمه درست عنوان نمایش‌نامه هست، از عبارت دو مرد و دو زن در آکورایوم استفاده کرده.

I directed this one-act play in high school, and thought I would revisit it today. It is a short read about 4 actors that are taken out of their comfort zone. Being that I have undergraduate degrees in both, Musical Theatre and Psychology, I have always found this play to be fascinating. Actors always want to be "in character" but in this situation they are forced to play themselves through the improvisation of a play. Typecasting runs rampant in this story, until the actors slowly turn about. All in all, they learn much about themselves and each other in only 27 pages.
