Definitely recommended if you're going to be taking the certification tests - I passed both 801 and 802 the first time using only this book.

This book is a helpful aid to anybody who is studying for their CompTIA A+ certification. This Kindle ebook comes with added online bonus content, which includes practise exams for the 901/902 exam objectives.
If used with other training material, like the online Professor Messer training videos, this book will prove invaluable as a study aid.

On one hand, I passed the CompTIA exam thanks to this book. On the other hand, the exam had a lot of questions about firewall ports, which the book barely touched on. Also, the book was pretty badly edited.
