For novice bloggers (which is what I was), this book gave me a good overview of blogging. The author provided a comprehensive look at blogging, things to think about before starting a blog, applications, tools, making money, things not to do, etc.

It's a little dated, but that's the internet for you. The only complaint that I have is that some of the suggested websites either no longer exist or they are no longer free. Other than that it was a great resource that really helped me build my blog successfully. I kept reading and then having to go change thinfs to my blog.

Blogging in the 2010s

Good Basic intro to blogging but SUPER DATED. Tech has changed so much that a lot of the info in this book is now obsolete.

Beginner-level. If you've already been blogging, you probably won't find much, if anything, of value. I skimmed it, finding only a few things worth noting. It's 8 books in one, and covers a lot of ground.

I read this looking for insights to make the quality of our blog even better, and to improve our efforts in promoting our blog.

I strongly disagreed with one tip:

Whenever you leave a comment on another blog, be sure to use the same keyword phrase in the Name field … Doing so helps your search engine optimization and branding efforts.

No, you should use your personal name (e.g., John Smith). Using your company name or, worse, something like "SEO Atlanta" is spammy and non-personal. Many sites won't allow comments that use non-personal names like that.

Bloggers charge $5-50+/post.

Try to keep posts under 800 words. If you want to go longer, consider splitting into a series of posts.
