This book examines the question of what makes one design environmentally preferable to another. Graedel discusses data and analyzes the streamlined life-cycle assessment process in the context of the goals of a particular process of product. Discusses environmental objectives as the basis of life cycle assessment. Impact assessment determined in the degree to which a given product or process features the natural earth system budget. Ends with a hypothetical discussion of what an environmentally perfect product might look like. For chemical, mechanical, and civil engineers.
Not as much public management as I would have liked but a really useful read. This is the approach we need to take if we are going to be able to sustain an advanced society. It really supports the concept of the right to repair and upgradable design. I found the analysis matrices to be simple enough for a well educated layperson to use and easily adapt. Recommend this highly for anyone who does systems work.
