The Western Canadian landscape informs this accessible and passionate collection of lyric poetry with an adventurous spirit as Peter Christensen engages with the experiences and adventures - physical, emotional and intellectual - that nature and language provide. Stylistically innovative, imbued with extraordinary imagery, and thematically challenging, this new collection from one of Canada's premiere poets demonstrates how vital the poet's craft still is in our time.

The poetry in the pages of this collection are a portrait of both the physical and emotional landscape of the poet. I was moved and inspired by Peter Christensen's work which I have come across for the first time and I look forward to reading more. Here is one example that was moving to me:

Pilgrims

we are north of sign country
the roads have abruptly ended
there are no off or on ramps
our tourist maps are blank
shorelines waterways and skyshapes
are the only way
to find the place

To read more of this verse you need only open this volume of poetry and enjoy the journey.
