杨树达先生以“礼俗”为研究的对象，原意当包括礼仪制度与民间风俗，而其中的礼仪制度，自然与通常理解的政制不同，实是一种因“俗”而生，又制约着“俗”，与“俗”始终存在密切关系的“礼”。“礼俗”，是社会生活中特别值得重视的现象。然而，自五十年代以来，“礼俗”，似乎已经退出了社会科学常用语汇。
