Weather or Not

Five best friends go coastal in this fabulously fun surfing series from Roxy Girl!

Luna, Rae, and Kanani travel to Florida's Sebastian Inlet to compete in a regional women's long-boarding competition. Upon arrival, Rae and Kanani both set their sights on James, a handsome yet reckless local surfer who flirts with both girls and manages to drive a wedge between them.

As the competitions are about to begin, an unexpected tropical storm brewing in the east starts heading directly toward the area. On impulse, James goes out to enjoy the huge waves created by the oncoming storm not realizing it's about to become a full-fledged hurricane. While the surfing event is put on hold indefinitely, Rae and Kanani are forced to wait out the storm together as they hope for James's safe return. Will this life-or-death situation convince the girls to put aside their differences? Or will their newfound rivalry threaten to wipe out their friendship once and for all?

It's all about a passion for the sport . . . and life.

OMG! This is like the best book. I didn't know it was a series, even though it said A Roxy Girl series.
Now lets skip the part about the plane ride and talk about Kanani. She is awesome! Now who thinks that when she first met James they were meant to be. ME! I rooted for Kanani and James. I swear they were the ultimate soulmates. Then Rae comes along, with James. Honestly I wanted to punch her in the face just Kanani wanted to when she was jealous. The moment when Rae said that she and James went on some kind of like kayak date...

*Dies* (I came back to life though)

I felt like I took a knife to the heart. Not really. I was like "Ok they were just hanging out as friends." and then they start going on some more dates. Not to mention they meet a guy named Francisco. Never ever would I think that Kanani and francisco would like each other in the end. I was so surprised. To be honest I felt kind of dumb not seeing that coming.

That's it for my review. Sorry if i kinda spoiled it for you. KIDDING!! You should not of read it dummies.

P.s. When I readint the book I didn't know to spell Kanani. Opps!

A teenage fiction surfing novel set in Florida dealing with teenage surfer girl issues (surf, friends and boys).

I won't even talk about the story line because for the age group it's aimed at, it's exactly right. The mom in me was a bit freaked out at the lack of boundaries these girls had but it's a novel. What DID irritate me to no end was the novel being written entirely in the present tense. I don't need to read a commentary on events - I want to read an account. That was quite off - putting.

Not a book I would read again.

This book is about 3 girls from California that go to Florida to compete in a surfing contest. The book is about the problems they have with boys, the local surfers. The girls all like James which causes all kinds of interesting things. Then a hurricane comes in and James decides to go ride the surf which is dangerous. The girls were good friends to start, but you will have to read the book to find out if they are still friends and who wins the surfing contest.

I liked this book because it shows the passion and love for sports that people have. And that pursuing your dreams will take you far but if you like to just play a sport for fun it's OK because sports don't always have to be about competing. And I'm not the sporty type so it was fun to read this book for me because it was something different.
