This last book in the God-Killer series is a little disjointed from the others. What I mean is that there is no mention of Keerem, he was last referred to as mysteriously missing in Sword for the Empire and no mention of Karinth, Dishan's lover and sometimes companion. In this story we venture to the far south, east of Anshan to Dirshan's homeland. A renegade Bear tribesman has allied himself with the man-eating Ayal and have declared war on the Empire of Anshan to the west. Helping Dirshan in his endeavors is the mysterious Iyali of the Tural, Gett his long time companion/servant, Ke'in a fellow tribesman, and Heletaroy the leader of the Anshan army. The Ayal want to reclaim their lands and an artifact that was buried with their ancient king Cleyungit which will help them achieve world domination once again.
