A well-written, accessible overview of the thyroid. This book discusses the thyroid's function, common diseases and treatments, and what patients can do on a daily basis to protect the health of their thyroids. I would recommend this book to anyone who has or might have thyroid disease. It is a great supplement to the information provided by your doctor, and can bring to light additional questions for your physician that you didn't even know you had.
Before reading this book I will suggest to have your thyroid checked, only then you will be able to get something out of this book. The cataloging was very detailed that at some point all I could read was catalog of what the chapter is about and what I will get out of it.
Great book for those wanting to understand thyroid disorders from a legitimate doctor. Dr. Rubin explains things well in simple terms, making it easy for readers to understand. The only reason, I gave this book 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 was due to 1) its need for an update (some of the information is a little outdated), and 2) the repetitive mentioning of iodine deficiency. Otherwise, a fantastic book for those wanting to be educated by a medical profession.
while this was helpful i think that if i had to pick out of this and the idiots guide i would pick the idiots guide it was set up better and the information was more clear.
