This fast-paced book takes readers on a trip behind the scenes with coach Bobby Knight, his friends, and his enemies. Read Good Knight for candid stories about the "good" side of Bob Knight. Then, flip the book over and begin reading anew about the "dark" side of Knight in Knightmares .
This is an interesting book, containing essays from a variety of media, friends and colleagues, and how difficult he could be to then flip the book over and there’s a book of essays containing essays from friends, colleagues and former players singing his praises. The author pontificates about both the positive and negative traits Coach Knight possessed.
In the book Good Knight/ Knightmares by Rich Wolfe the life of legendary NCAA basketball coach Bob Knight is seen in great detail. This book has both sides of "Bobby Knight's" personality. In the first section called Good Knight it tells about Bob's triumphs and successes in life and how represents himself as a top notch coach. It goes into detail about his winning record and some f the great teams he coached along the way. However if you flip the book over the Knightmares section talks about what you don't see everyday from coach Knight. Some of his former players and assistant coaches talk about him and some of the instances where he "lost his cool" and went a little overboard with anger. If you would like to know more about Bob Knight and his legendary career I would highly recommend this book. The book Good Knight/ Knightmares falls into the category of biography. I know this because the book was written by Rich Wolfe and it has accounts from other people about coach Knight. This book is nonfiction because all of the information in it is factual. Bob Knight was born on October 25th 1940. Knight played basketball his whole life. He played in high school and went to Ohio State University and played college ball. In his college career he won a division 1 college tournament championship in 1960 and had two more final four appearances as a player. He also was a part of the team that won three big ten regular season championships from 1960 to 1962. Coach Knight had a record of 902-371. This is a .709 win percent meaning he won not than 70% of his games he coached. Knight coached four teams in his career and all were very successful. He started his head coaching at Army in 1965 and ended in 1971. After that he took over the head coaching job at Indiana university an coached there from 1971 to 2000. Then he took his talent to Texas Tech university. Coach knight took his teams to 5 final four appearances and won 3 championships in years 1976, 1981 and 1987. His most prestigious award was being inducted into the college basketball hall of fame in 1991. Bob knight was truly one of the greatest coaches in basketball history. He was also one if the most successful. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who love basketball. It is a great read and tells a lot about coach Knight and his philosophies.
