Psychopath!

Rate this book
Adam Cuthbert, psychopath and Minister of Religion, finds criminality and his work in the Church to be quite compatible. After joining forces with Joey LaMotta, fellow priest and Mafiosi, they go on to break every command in the Bible, embarking on a crime spree that includes sex trafficking and cocaine smuggling. Independently, Adam begins to indulge in a passion for murder, his homicidal urges only being halted by a foe from the past and a mental unravelling. The sole person that seems to be able to make sense of Adam’s plight is Chanda, trafficked Indian and unassuming sage.

I really wanted to read this book because of all the reviews about how terrifying and disgusting this book was, but I've finished it and I didn't really enjoy it.
The first 330 pages were rather boring. I got tired of the whole 'criminal/serial killer' thing rather quickly, because the murders and other crimes weren't described as detailed as I hoped, and the writer didn't really let you in to the 'psychopath's' psyche very deeply, in which I was more interested.
The story didn't really develop into anything and wasn't very thrilling, but more matter to factly written. Character development none.
Except for the last, maybe 30/40 pages. Those got very spiritual very fast, which I did not see coming & found quite interesting. Kinda enjoyed that part, but then again the story was just all over the place and still wasn't going anywhere.
I would not recommend it, thought the last 30 pages were worth reading.

Story of a Transgressive Mind

Vicar of a church decides to go serial killing. No motive towards his becoming is presented, but only attributed to a psycopathic mind. He is into other activities considered illegal in the society and which the church construes as immoral. All this lands him in a messy maze and he realises there are only two way outs. But, why do all Psycho stories end with a transformation of the Psycopath at the end? The last minute transformation may be illogical, but it can also be considered as the surrender of mind before love and unconditional love

A clear narration and the towards the end thrill makes it an interesting read. Beware of the mysogynist tendencies that the book exemplifies. Also, related gious people may take offence reading this.

I can't - I just can't. I tried, but dogged as I was, I could read only one or two pages at a time before I felt sick and dirty inside. It was disgusting, and I finally gave up & threw it down on page 19. Now I don't know whether to give it away or to burn it...

This is one of my favorite books! It is most definitely a page turner. In this book the main character is motivated by ambition, desire, greed, gratification and materialism. You will end up liking him because he is so cynical, funny and doesn't give a F. The main character is very unorthodox and has a no bullshit, do whenever the f*** attitude. Obviously this book is a dark novel and talks about many taboo subjects so if you are a big baby that gets offended by everything, go read the little prince instead.

'Psychopath!' isn't a pleasant read, but I found it compulsive, though-provoking and at times funny. It's the story of a psychopathic religous minister, and the homicidal and criminal spree he embarks on, aided by two equally crazy buddies. The book is written in the first person, and has a very immediate, in-your-face feel which makes the murders described feel very real. The ending is - quite literally - explosive.

Reading this book is like being hit over the head by a piece of two by four. It's savage, brutal, obscene in parts ... and very funny. I don't know if the author is a diagnosed psychopath as I have read on the net, but I think it's certainly a possiblity. Apart from its savagery, it's very well written and presents a story that keeps you reading until it's finished.
