I loved the first book in this series, but didn't enjoy #2 as much. There was too little communication between Montgomery and Abbie. Abbie was headstrong and not the docile, dainty lady Montgomery had known in the South. However, he knew that coming into this story and yet constantly fought against this. I thought they were both stupid at times. I am annoyed when people who love each other allow misunderstandings to stand in their way for weeks at a time. Communication, people!
That being said, this is still a nice story. It's really helpful to have read the first book, Honor's Pledge, before jumping into this story. I didn't notice it in the first book, but this story seems a Christian Romance, with more talk of trusting God. There is no sex or language and it's an enjoyable read.

The series gets better and better as it progresses. I love how Abbie has a mind of her own. She doesn't conform to what society things a lady should be, and she has a heart of gold. This second book is plot driven - never a dull moment. There's always something happening on the ranch to make it interesting, and I love how characters grow throughout the book and come to realizations about themselves and God.

Disappointed that Fr. Dominic dies suddenly and the mission is abandoned. Monty and Abby have more than their share of trouble at every turn in the story. I agree with others that the first book was much better. Even Monty's surprise marriage to Sharalyn in book 1 was understandable out of duty and honor. I also felt that the whole story of Gifford's hatred towards Monty unraveled too quickly and anti-climatically in the end.

There were quite a lot of times that I didn't really like this book. But end good all good I suppose. I thought characters and character flaws were too obvious and annoying even. I tried to see it through that times eye, but still. Some things just seemed plain stupid and it felt like it only happened to make a book. I'll start reading the third book, I hope that that one will be a bit more satisfying.

As I said earlier, I did not like this book nearly as well as the first one. There was way too much horrible, brutal things occurring as Montgomery tried to protect his property and Abbie was too stubborn for their relationship to flourish. Two of Heitzmanns books in this series was enough for me.

This continues Abbie & Monte's story of live in Colorado. Like in the previous book many are still "fighting" the Civil War. Monte ends up in a range war with Union veteran who fought against his father. Frances (Monte's Sister) still wants to return home to South Caroline.

I get tired of hearing ,"how can I tell her", or "I just can't tell her"! Just talk to each other! I don't know if I can listen to the next book? So dumb! You need to talk to each other!

**Update: see what I have written in my update to the first book in the series. This book did not survive round two of the "purge" from my personal collection.**
I still really loved the book for all the reasons that I mentioned in my review of the first in the series.
The reason that I rated this book one star lower is probably partially my fault. I think I read the last half of the book too quickly and because of that I missed connecting details that would make the sudden jumps (or what seemed like sudden jumps to me) actually make sense. The last fifty pages or so moved so quickly, the core of the plot seemed a little bit lost. Additionally, it felt like there were too many villains in this book, villains that had completely separate purposes that just happened to affect Monte and Abbie. At the conclusion of the book, I managed to figure things out.
The previous paragraph aside, I have to repeat that I still love this book, the whole series. There's just so much that Heitzmann crams into such a short book. I wish she had added an extra hundred pages. (Perhaps then a lot of the confusion would have disappeared.)

Not over all a terrible book but read something better with your time. I didn't think it was that great.
Man her husband is a bit of a jerk. This girl is what 19 when they get married? He never explains anything and expects her to blindly follow his orders without any explanation. I get it but then he doesn't speak to her or leaves her alone because his 'pride' is hurt. What kind of love is that? Yes the Abbie makes some foolish decisions but if her husband would see her as a helpmate and let her in on the decisions and processes of their ranch maybe things wouldn't be so difficult. One example he buys her a horse as a wedding gift and tells her she can't ride it. He thinks to himself it's not safe till the horse knows it's way home. But he never tells her this just expects her to listen to him. She is not a child and can understand what he is talking about. He says it's her house and to do what she would like but doesn't tell her his housekeeper will get offended if she cooks in his kitchen. It's all sorts of little things like this where he brings her into his house and just expects her to understand the nuances of his household.

I have to say that I enjoyed Book 2 in this series just as much as Book 1. The drama and suspense are upped in this one, and you can't help but fly through the pages! I can't imagine how on edge those who first read this series must have been, as the following books in the series hadn't been released yet. I am so glad I have the books handy and don't have to wait to see how things will play out, while waiting on a release date!
I could tell in this one that Heitzmann was already laying down some ground work for the next few books in relation to Cole. That said, she had plenty of excitement laid out in this book. Between relational issues, threats, danger and more you never have a dull moment! Another great read... I'm so ready for Book 3!
4 1/2 Stars

I loved this series!! They are all great books. They have a great mix of mystery, romance, comedy, drama, and they are just very uplifting stories. At first I was skeptical about these books, and now I don't want to take them back to the library!!

Abbie is the biggest idiot I have ever read about. Seriously. She does not heed to any warnings from her husband. She does not THINK about how she is endangering her life and the lives around her. She drove me INSANEEEE!!!!!!

Abbie is headstrong, talented, and beautiful. What else do you want in a protagonist? Placed in the scenic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, this series is a good read. I don't own the series, but I always check them out from the library if they're there and I'm in the mood.

Heitzmann weaves a stellar tale, complete with adventure, passion, evil, and triumph. Historical readers will appreciate her research of Colorado history. The rest of us will hang on by our fingernails as Abbie and Monte careen through life. 4.5 Stars

So happy Monte & Abbie FINALLY were able to get married!

Despite the terrible sense of foreboding I left while reading book two, Heitzmann proved my predictions wrong--and that's okay with me!

Honor's Price (Rocky Mountain Legacy #2) by Kristen Heitzmann – Lots of tension and chaos in this book! But I love the characters! Happy Reading!

I really enjoyed this book, and the ending was satisfying with no cliffhangers. I could easily picture the characters acting as they did. A through enjoyable read.
