Five fragile women intersect as each struggles to meet head-on her personal challenges to love and friendship. Together they journey toward faith, hope, and fulfillment and becoming all that God created them to be.
Heather Randall began her writing career with baby steps, literally. In 2003 she started blogging about her mommy adventures and connecting with like-minded women online. During this time she was also preparing the final bits of a novel that had been written with pen and paper. A friend typed it all up properly for her and, at last, in 2011 When Chicks Hatch was published. All this and homeschooling four children still didn't keep Heather busy enough though. She began reviewing books and products and eventually went to work for The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine.
When God moved her on from there she had learned a ton about copywriting, marketing, editing and developed a confidence online. In 2013 He paved the way for her to purchase Christian Women Affiliate.
She now serves as the CEO of Christian Women Affiliate, LLC and all of its divisions including the CWA Radio Network and The CWA Review Crew. She especially enjoys serving fellow writers through her company. Heather still leaves time for God to fill her up with stories and she is currently working on a second novel.
Heather's hobbies include spending time with family, writing, reading, creating and trading mail art, and blogging. Heather and her family reside in Oklahoma.
I will say this book is a 5 star novel right at the beginning! I was hooked from the first sentence! It is the first book in the “The Chicks of Corbin Bridge “ series by Heather Randall. It is a fictional story that just might be true somewhere. It is about 5 very different woman that have struggles.
This book is Christian Fiction but deals with the subject of adultery and pregnancy out of wedlock. But there is no bedroom scenes or bad language used in this book. There is also not a lot of preaching ( which I don’t mind in books that I’m reading, in fact I like preaching in books I read, I only included this fact in this review for others that don’t want preaching in books they read) but God is mentioned and you know that the characters know Him.
This book is written so well that this reader believed every word I read!
“ When Chicks Hatch” by Heather Randall is a story that makes you experience the feelings of curiosity and surprise and yes,( even a little disgust at a married man), and most of love. You can even feel the love between the characters in these different scenarios. I love how she interweaved all the stories into one!
This is a love story (not just between one man and one woman) for all the characters learn what love is and how forgiveness really is the best love.
I loved this story and it is one that I will be reading time and again and I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series!
I recommend this book to everyone that likes to read, but I will caution you you might shed a few tears before you get to the end! I really think you will like the ending even if you do cry!
There is also an recipe at the end of the book for Brad’s Sweet Potato Ravioli, just in time for Christmas, maybe you can start a new tradition and serve this dish at those holidays gatherings.

Best friends Jennifer and Nicky, Sidney, Alexis and Kristen all face challenging situations in their lives. As the story unfolds, each of these women have accept and deal with their own personal struggles. Some because of their own choices, some couldn’t be helped. Jennifer and Nicky’s friendship results in a situation that could have cost their longtime relationship. Sidney made very bad choices because of her self-controlled past. Alexis is dealing with grief and rejection as she tries to save her marriage. And Kristen doesn’t know what she wants, she’s lost faith in her future. And the author weaves all of these ladies situations, showing that God can and will take a bad situation and make something good come from it.
This was an interesting book, with 5 ladies dealing with real life situations that women face today. The story of each woman was interesting, and I enjoyed reading about them. But as I read through the book, I really had a tough time keeping up with the characters and the plot. Each chapter, and sometimes within each chapter the author was back and forth from one situation to the other, and I had to keep going back to see where the story line was coming from and who was suppose to be with who. It was just confusing. And I wasn’t happy when in reading, God’s name was taken in vain twice. I feel that could have been avoided. And there was another cuss word in there than could have been avoided too. Like my dad always taught us, you can always say the same things without the bad words. She did refer to faith and hope, and how God can change any situation, no matter how bad it is. I give this book a 3.0 rating.
A big Thank You to Wine Press Publishing for providing me a copy of When Chicks Hatch to read in exchange for a review. I was not expected or requested to write a positive review of this book. The review and opinions are mine only.
Five women all intersect as they deal with major issues that change their lives and bring them closer to their friends, family, and God. Each woman also learns who her true friends are. Since each woman is at a different place in her life, everyone should be able to find a character to relate to.
The book had a very chick-lit, contemporary feel. The author wrote a story that will capture the reader's attention and tells a tale of redemption and forgiveness without coming across as too preachy. Because there were so many characters the plot had a soap-opera vibe with many different intersecting stories being told at once. I'll admit to some confusion at the start, but quickly figured everything out and settled in to enjoy an adventure that included faith, romance, and some plot twists. This was a sweet book by a new author. I look forward to seeing what she comes out with next.
I received this book free of charge from CWA in exchange for my honest review.

Throughout the entire book we are reminded that God is always there weaving your life story to perfectly fit into His plan for you.
