Track travels to Las Vegas on the trail of a group of Russian-backed Israeli mobsters who are trying to take over from the crumbling Mafia. This band, called the Malina, first kidnap and kill a powerful don's daughter and then attempt to take over the casino he owns with the threat of blowing it to pieces if they fail, killing hundreds.
Jerry Ahern (born Jerome Morrell Ahern) was a science fiction and action novel author best known for his post apocalyptic survivalist series The Survivalist. The books in this series are heavy with descriptions of the weapons the protagonists use to survive and prosecute a seemingly never-ending war amongst the remnants of the superpowers from pre-apocalypse times.
Ahern was also a firearms writer, who published numerous articles in magazines such as Guns & Ammo, Handguns and Gun World.
Jerry Ahern passed away on July 24, 2012 after a long struggle with cancer.
Ahern also released books under pseudonym Axel Kilgore.
This book is a tie in with the authors other Gold Eagle series, "The Takers". Josh Culhane and Mary Mulrooney are a bigger part of this book than Dan Track. At first I didn't think this was going to work, but I was pleasantly surprised how it worked out. In The Takers series, Josh Culhane is an author and so is Mary Mulrooney. Just like Jerry Ahern and Sharon Ahern. You can tell the author is having fun with this story'
The Israeli mob take over a Las Vegas hotel run by a Italian mob. They kidnapped the head of the families daughter. Killed her. Tried to take off with the ransom. Dan Track stopped that. The head of the hotel is the brother. He is stealing from his father and plans to burn the hotel down to cover this up. The Israelis want to blow up the hotel to start an international incident. This same hotel is host to a group of action novelists, including, yes Josh Culhane.
The action is a bit like a Die Hard rip off that works well. Dan Track and his entourage join forces with Josh Culhane and his writer friends and editor in a wall to wall blow out of armed conflict. highly recommended.
