There are times you want to read a rather thought provoking, philosophical book, sometimes a horror book to creep you for days and sometimes you simply want to read a light yet romantic book with a strong happily ever after. This book is for days like that. With a very strong and hilarious characters in it, this shines among the Chinese web-novels that I have read. Simply for the fact that more than 75% of the book made me bend in stitches. Also if you do not have time for nonsensical and stupid female characters and finally ready for a strong one that holds out for herself with a snarky yet sassy self, then this is perfect. Yes, Tang Wei made this book better and stand out from the rest. Her sassy comebacks were the best. She was in no mind to take the bullshitting from anyone and she was straight forward in everything. She did not hide behind anyone's back and she simply said the truth. She did not want a prince in a shining armor and she was not gonna accept anything like that either. She did not take the best decisions in life yet she did not regret or wallow in desperation over them. She was not in the ideal situation and she struggled like all of us. Yet she was strong. This is the type of characters that should make appearances in Asian novels more. Not the damsels in distress.
Poor Xiao Yan. He did not know what he was getting into when he went to that blind date. One can say he was truly blind sided. He went to help a friend out and ended out getting married. I agree with everyone. Despite circumstances, they should have had their courtship a little longer. Still I loved how it ended. Maybe the . Sometimes I really did feel bad for him, in the most funniest way possible that is. His attempts of courtship were almost always completely thwarted and crushed.

"Is this the power of love?"
"It is probably the power of fertilizer and water"

"Look up the wedding photos on the wall, who do you see?"
"I'm sorry I only saw the divorce certificate in the drawer."

Even the side characters around the two main characters were hilarious. The Yang family being the best. From Yang Mi to Mama Yang and even Papa Yang. Small appreciation time for two memorable cameos. The front desk officer and the Civil Affairs Bureau officer. Those two left me in stitches at the end of their parts.

As I have mentioned previously, this is not a book to be taken seriously. This is just a book for laughs. Do not expect me to write about the lessons I've learnt through this but I shall rather impart with the laughs I got thanks to this. A truly hilarious novel by Chestnut this time.

A big shout-out for the translators who had done an extremely well job with even the little tid-bits we might not know. Radiant Translations, Crystal and Aniuishi Translations, thank you so much for the time and effort poured into this so that non-Chinese reader like me can enjoy it too.
