Amo profundamente este libro. Realmente es uno de mis favoritos. Lo leí hace mucho, lo he vuelto a leer ahora y aún causa el mismo efecto en mí (aparte de un ataque de llanto descontrolado).
Es un libro en el que realmente puede meterme de lleno a la historia.

Amo la historia, los personajes y el entorno. Esta historia se ambienta a inicios de Junio de 1960, junto a Clare y Liz, las mejores amigas. Un nuevo chico llega al vecindario, Ethan Bennington; alto, ojos azules y cabello negro. ¡Guapísimo! Clare debe decidir a quién dedicarle su atención y entregarle su corazón este verano, a su mejor amiga de toda la vida o al encantador chico nuevo.
Pero la historia va más allá de eso, mucho más allá, es más que una historia de amor, más que una historia sobre la amistad.

Ethan fue mi primer platónico literario, nunca nunca lo superaré.

Este libro es de los mejores que existen, simplemente perfecto.

Pro: es bien interesante, siempre estuve intrigada. Nunca me aburrió y es algo que valoro, pero...
Con: Odié a la protagonista y el final me pareció innecesario. No solo eso, sino que es como si al final Clare no aprendió nada de todos los disparates que hizo. SMH.

Me hubiera encantado si el libro hubiera contando la historia de Ethan mejor. El tema de la esquizofrenia sí que fue interesante, y no es un tema que se explore mucho en los libros juveniles.

Como ha pasado antes, mucho después de haber terminado la escuela soy capaz de apreciar realmente algunas de las lecturas, en ese momento, "obligatorias" que hoy se han transformado en mi elección. Muy poco recordaba de este libro, pero estaba segura de que me había gustado y realmente no estaba equivocada. Un placer volver a encontrarme con este libro.

Me ha sorprendido de una buena manera.
Un libro muy corto pero eso no le impide tocar las fibras sensibles de nuestros corazones.
Rumbo al final se me hizo un nudo en la garganta y termine secándome las lágrimas.
Recomendado.
Un libro que se quedara en mi memoria.

I find it quite funny that this the second book I’ve read this month. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I just couldn’t find any books that I was interested in. I’ve been in a slump because I wanted to read a fantasy book, but everybody and their mama keep putting out those godforsaken Romantasy books😂.
I found this book a little romantic and sad, which are what I wanted after reading undeveloped Romantasy books.

veo TAN sin sentido que se haya muerto la amiga, ni siquiera era la mejor amiga y fue una muerte muy estúpida. aparte la muerte del final no lleva a ningún lado, literalmente es como cuando yo escribía fanfics y no sabía como terminar la historia y los mataba. fuera de eso me entretuvo, no se si ME GUSTÓ. Igual siento que la historia de las mejores amigas al final quedó rara, eso no me gustó

Linda historia de amor adolescente. ¿Quién no ha tenido una de esas? Fácil de leer, personajes muy interesantes (Ethan) y un final desolador. Recomendado para leerlo en cualquier momento.

Clare meets Ethan at the beginning of her summer break. She lives in a small town, a camp, where most of the men work together and everyone knows everyone else. Ethan and his family move there to get away from Ethan’s troubled past. He’s musically gifted, but his musical obsession was fed by a ghost that only he could see, a young boy called Friedrich (a contemporary of Brahms), who Ethan says was a musical prodigy when he was alive. Everyone thought Ethan was nuts, so he was hospitalized and told he had schizophrenia. Ethan’s revelation makes Clare a bit nervous at first, but then they become so close that it’s never really an issue.

When school resumes, however, Clare finds it difficult to fit the old pieces of her life together with the new. Her best friend Liz has been away all summer and now that she’s back, she finds that Ethan has taken her place. There’s some jealousy and fighting between them as they struggle to find a new way to be. And Ethan’s been seeing and hearing Friedrich again. After Clare ditches Liz’s recital to spend time with Ethan, Liz reads her journal and then tells everyone about Ethan’s schizophrenia. Then the whole town has something to talk about.

People’s cruelty and insensitivity just drives Ethan and Clare closer together. They spend most of their time with one another and with Motie Ann, a retarded girl who Ethan is teaching to play the piano. Ethan reveals that Friedrich has returned and that he wants him to write his concerto. Maybe then Friedrich will leave Ethan alone? He seems sad at the idea of this loss, however.

One fateful day, a carelessly tossed cigarette combined with some toxic fumes cause an explosion and a fire in the school. Ethan and Clare go back into the flames to rescue Motie Ann, and then Motie Ann and Ethan go on to Ethan’s locker to rescue the concerto. They never make it out.

It ends shortly thereafter with Clare giving a speech at graduation. The wrap up seems a bit abrupt, but the whole store is only 153 pages long and breezy and ephemeral. Motie Ann mentions that she saw a strangely dressed boy with Ethan, whom we can presume might be Friedrich, so maybe Ethan’s not crazy after all. Simply and beautifully written , this is a poignant coming of age story. Tragic, unfortunately.

I really didn't like to read books the school told me to read but this one was different. This book made me love reading and it became my favorite book and it still is. Unfortunately I never got to buy it, everytime I go to the library, wether it is sold out or it hasn't arrived yet. I just find it incredible, not to have my favourite book!

3,5 ✨️ Cuando encontré este libro por aquí, una de las principales razones que me motivó a leerlo fue el hecho de que era muy cortito, además de que muchas personas coincidían en que era triste.

Pues que les digo, si está triste JSKDJSK AY NO YA NO QUIERO SEGUIR CON ESTA RESEÑA, ANDO EN PLENA CRISIS :(♡

"Ethan Between Us" fue un libro cálido y nostálgico. La amistad entre Clare y Liz, al principio, era tan sólida que era inimaginable que pudiese quebrabtarse. Por el lado de Clare y Ethan, su final me tuvo en lágrimas, realmente me dolió lo que les pasó.

S P O I L E R

Hubieron algunas cositas que me detuvieron a ponerle un 4 estrellas al libro. El único spoiler que tenía de este libro era el hecho de que tenía final triste. A medida que uno lee la novela, se entera que Ethan es "esquizofrenico" (en el libro, pusieron en duda si en realidad era o no, por lo que me hubiese gustado que haya una respuesta clara que lo confirmase o no). Se me hizo interesante leer el personaje de Ethan (hubiese deseado que le diesen POV). En el transcurso de la novela, pareciese que el final trágico para Ethan tenía que ver con su esquizofrenia, y, a pesar que el final de Ethan me dolió muchísimo, al fin y al cabo no tuvo mucho que ver con su esquizofrenia, por lo que se me hizo un poco ¿? El hecho que hayan involucrado esa enfermedad y que dieran unos indicios de que el final tenía que ver con eso, cuando en realidad no fue así. De igual manera, me gustó el libro.

F I N D E L S P O I L E R

En realidad, me hubiese gustado que el libro sea más largo, para mayor profundidad. Había mucho potencial en la historia y en los personajes, por lo cual, la decisión de que el libro sea corto, me tuvo algo desanimada. Aún así, lo recomiendo, tanto por su historia, como por el hecho de que es una historia rápida de leer.

I read this book in high school and became one of my favorites, if not THE one book I could read over and over again.

The way the love story between Clare and Ethan is developed, so natural and fast paced describes perfectly that first love we all get to experience, so raw and impulsive at times but so pure at the same time. This might not happen to you with the first person you date, but your actual first love. That one you’ll never forget and despite of how it might’ve ended you still cherish the memories.

Reading it at such a young age made me question a lot of things about young love and created a lot of expectations too. Reading it again in my twenties made me relate to bits of the story. It pains me to this day how it turned out in the end, but I think it could’t have been any other way, because love lasts forever only in the pages we can go back to read infinite times.

Es un libro muy sencillo, yo había escuchado maravillas de él hace tiempo pero nunca pude encontrarlo hasta ahora, quizás si lo hubiera leído en ese tiempo me hubiera gustado más. El libro es bueno, fácil de leer y la manera en la que está escrito te atrapa, al menos a mí porque no tiene descripciones innecesarias. Si te gustan las historias románticas este es tu libro, quizás ese fue mi problema además de que estoy en desacuerdo con algunas decisiones y pensamientos de la protagonista, que aunque tuviera 15 años sigue sin parecerme. Creo que para mí la enseñanza de este libro es no dejes la amistad de años por un amor, ambas pueden coexistir, no se puede depende de alguien.

La primera novela que lees de Zona Libre estará genial y querrás compartirla con alguien o hablar de ella, las próximas 5 te parecerán buenas... lamentablemente después de eso siempre se vuelven casi la misma historia.

Y es que le agarras la onda a que son para adolescentes, historias para hablar de sexualidad, muerte, drogas, alcohol, madurar y todo eso.

Así que no es muy original o sorprendente el cómo acabó esta novela, igual que la mayoría de Zona Libre. Pero en sí estuvo buena, buenos personajes, escenarios y elementos como el problema del chico nuevo, Ethan y la fractura en la amistad de la Liz y la protagonista. Me gustó.

I read this book when I was 13 years old (now almost 37) because of my cousins (they read it for school and loved it so they recommend to me) it was the first novel i ever recall reading, and then read it at least another time, and it's been close to my heart ever since even though more than 20 years has passed.... i wish i could read it again but unfortunately i don't have a physical copy and it's not on kindle...But this was such and amazing story, beautifully written, I remember loving the characters and. having a huge crush for Ethan, this was my first literary heartbreak... Solid 5 stars read to me 🤍

Este libro lo amé profundamente, es uno de esos libros que me enganchan y me hacen terminarlo en menos de 3 horas, y no porque la trama sea "de suspenso" sino porque disfruto cada una de las paginas, es imposible no identificarse con clare en muchísimas cosas, todos los personajes son tan reales que realmente te teletransportas en la historia. Amo a ethan, y amo aún más a clare.
Un libro hermoso que todos deberían leer almenos una vez en la vida.

I fell in love with Ethan, my sweet boy that deserved better.
What was the point after all?
All the important topics were left unexplored and at the end there's no point in what happened to them.
Motie Ann and Ethan were so interesting characters but we couldn't meet the properly and I'm really sad because I loved them.
