Life is good now for Ina and Haldrek. The war with the Blodnar is nearly over and the birth of Lohikärra’s new Aethling—their son, Eero—is a sign of more peaceful and prosperous times to come. Even so, the necromancer Rorik is still loose and his power grows. When rumors reach them of an ancient dragon being brought back to life and people being kidnapped by Rorik’s followers, both Ina and Haldrek know they need to quell Rorik’s machinations. Haldrek sets out to confront him, leaving Ina and their newborn son within the protection of Drattüjert’s palace and its dragons.
But when dragon magic begins to fail, a new prophecy is revealed, and Rorik’s dark magic is felt deep in the palace, Ina realizes she can’t wait for Haldrek to save the day. Along with an old friend, she will have to confront Rorik once and for all. Even if it means risking the future she has desired her entire life.

Ina's a mom with all the insecurities and self doubt that come as a first time Mom. But she's also the Queen, so her attention is not where she would prefer. Even more complicated is that Rorik is still after her and her family. These are conflicts that no one should have to deal with. We are lead into her world to feel this attachment to her child, her family and her people.
Then this lovely scenario is ripped open as combat ensues. The ability to travel between the Realm of Ghosts and the Realm of the Living is a curse and an advantage. The war is continuing and Ina is beside Haldrek every step of the way.
An excellent fantasy driven by motherhood, concern for family and love of people. A brutal world but she will persevere and become the Heart of Lohikärra!
Heart of Lohikärra by L. L. Nelson was another great book in the series, I was engaged with the characters and what was happening in this concept. I enjoyed how good everything worked together and thought the characters belonged in this universe. The author has a great writing style and I'm glad I got to read this.

Another good story! This book does what any good book should do - draws you in early and only lets you go at the end. A worthwhile read. I received a free ARC copy of this book and am under no obligation to leave a review.
