The Rational Unified Process (RUP) is a saleable product from Rational/IBM.The RUP unifes the entire software development team and seeks to optimizethe productivity of each and every team member by putting the collectiveexperience derived from thousands of development projects and many industryleaders at the user's fingertips. It is a very popular product, and this bookrepresents the most thorough documentation for the latest version of theproduct (RUP v2003), which was released in May of 2003.
I worked at an organisation that used terminology from RUP, so this read was to find out more about it. There are some good intentions under the hood, though there are drawbacks to any approach that is so productised (this was a packaged up set of tools, techniques, and process that was going after money). It's worth reading as many different ideas on process as you can... otherwise you don't _really_ know process.
I didn't quite get the material and as per 2019 a lot of materials are outdated. Many teams are using more advanced techniques nowaday. Therefore, per my taste book was neither too helpful nor that bad.
