Rustic Colorado is hardly Claire Brown's idea of a primo vacation spot, but the week-long getaway at romantic mountain lodge promises to heal a rift with her increasingly detached fiance. Armed with her trusty laptop and constantly ringing cell phone, Claire can't help sensing, though, that her fiance might not be as committed to their relationship as she is. The dead giveaway is he's brought another woman along on their romantic holiday...jerk!

As proprietor of Hunter's Lodge, John McBride is duty-bound to find suitable accommodation under his sold-out roof for the cell-phone addicted, just-jilted guest. as a red-blooded man whose pet peeve is a workaholic woman, he's determined to steer clear of the suddenly single dynamo who just checked in for the next nine days. But the annoying, yet very alluring, Claire has a way of popping up when he least expects it--and as John soon discovers, so does true love...

Claire Brown wants to spend a vacation with her fiancé to salvage their relationship spending her money savings on an outdoor adventure on a romantic mountain lodge. Although things took a few turns since her fiancé Bryan hadn’t waited for her on the airport and she gets to be seated with a nervous mother who took pills to sleep through the entire flight and left Claire with her hyper active child who wrecked her computer, she still thought that nothing will get in the way of her romantic vacation with Bryan, even the crappy tour guide John Hunter on her heel. But things took the worst when Claire barges in the special suite she ordered and found a naked woman inside claiming to be her fiancé’s girlfriend. Claire was then forced to spend her vacation on the smallest room Hunter’s Lodge could provide her, the flamboyant flirting of her ex-fiance and his new girlfriend in front her face and the very irritable and oh-so-sexy John McBride. Yup, things would never be the same.
John McBride hates workaholic women, women especially like Claire Brown because it reminds him that his mother had never had time for him except for work. Though Claire gets on his nerves most of time, she also get on under his skin. Not revealing that he’s not just an employee of the lodge but the very owner, he gets to test this attraction with Claire even against his mind because his body couldn’t resist Claire and maybe even his…heart.
Claire discovers that there’s an anomaly on the accounts that Bryan’s father, Robert Edwards is handling. And to Roberts fear that Claire might find out that he and his son is embezzling from the company he better get rid of Claire and fast. Upon knowing of Claire’s immediate danger, John put up all the stops to save Claire and unveil his dying love for her.
This book will guide you to break-ups with jerk-cheating good for nothing non-grateful boyfriends and fall in love with the most opposite man that you have ever meet. This book truly represents the classic “opposites attract” phrase that’ll keep you reading.

Claire Brown finds her fiance cheating on her at the vacation lodge they were supposed to go to. The only thing stopping her from scratching his eyes out is John, who owns the lodge they are staying at. Claire is determined to enjoy the vacation that she paid for so she stays despite the obstacles she is faced with.

John’s relationship with his workaholic ex-wife is not an experience he would like to repeat so he knows he has to stay away from Claire who is constantly working through her trusty laptop and phone. The two bicker over everything but they can’t deny the attraction they feel for each other.

I felt sorry for Claire when her fiance cheated on her and I knew in the back of my mind that the perfect revenge is for Claire to get together with John. Thus, I couldn’t wait for John to give in to the attraction between them. For me, the novel was a fast read that I finished quickly.

I like how the killer in the story did not take up much of the story at all, and it brought Anna and John together wonderfully at the end.

Both Anna and John are strong characters who were at a low point in their lives when they met each other. I would recommend this book to people who like to see two people falling in love and healing each others’ emotional wounds.

I liked this book. After reading it, I definitely wanted to go explore nature and hope that I'll meet a John along the way. Haha.

I thought it was a fun read. Very detailed. There were some parts that I wanted to just skim, but ultimately decided not to. I thought the nature aspect was very well constructed. The scenes really made me want to explore nature! There were a lot of silent contemplations and musings. These were fine at first, but it seemed repetitive later on...but I don't believe it hindered the whole story.

I can actually see this being adapted into a movie. I think it would be a quirky romcom to watch. It's not really deep, but it has some essence. And even though the whole thing took place within 9 days, falling in love with each other seemed believable, given their histories and past experiences. I think this is one of the major things that I liked about this book. Sometimes, authors are so far off the 'falling in love' timing, and I think Brandt pulled it off for her first novel (at least I believe it's her first?)

The best part of this book was the last sentence. It made me go, "Awww"

This was a cute read, the hero and the heroine were definitely to very great characters. I liked John enough to be happy he ended up with Claire. But throughout the book I was completely captivated by Claire, her evil moments made the entire book for me. I liked that this book had a somewhat more realistic outlook on time truly needed to fall in love. They ended up getting I think about 9 days when usually in stories like this they only get 2 or 3. But of course there were some things I had a few issues with. I didn't like how there was just to much happening to Claire I mean really, at first it was cute in a wow she had a bad day kind of way. Then after that the issues got bigger and it wasn't very believable I mean I found myself starting to not care that she was being hurt. But all in all it was a cute read not really greatly remember except for Claire and her Evil Moments.

Claire Brown has thrown herself into her work to replace failed relationships. When she decides to treat her fiancé to 10 days at a CO resort, all kinds of problems ensue culminating in the fiancé dumping her. The resort owner, John McBride ends up bailing her out of multiple problems and falling in love. Great secondary characters and stories. Fun book.

I got this book for a dollar and am glad I didn't pay more for it. It was pretty lame and not enough content so it seemed long winded. Plus the last line of the book had the title in it which was the ultimate cheese!

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. This is so true and put perfectly for this woman who has been dumped and her boyfriend took another girl on their vacation! This is pretty funny and puts any bad day into perspective!

Though I consider this Chick Lit, it had a thriller subplot that I enjoyed. I was suprised that I liked this book more than I thought I would.
