Five complete tales each one a thousand words or less. Includes "Lulu" and "The Farewell Spell" as well as two previously published stories, "Blood of Revenge" and "Lost in Time"
It's not as easy to write flash fiction as you might think. When the words starts to flow the flash fiction can easily turn into a short story or even novella. And even if you could stop writing it takes a real talent to take you to the journey only using few hundreds of words. Garden Summerland definitely knows how to do that. Her writing style is unique and the reader gets immediately drawn into the story. This was my first flash fiction read but def not the last. I found myself sneaking a peek of the next story whenever I could...Gym's locker room, queuing at the supermarket...just couldn't put it down! Excellent read!
This short story collection by Garden Summerland was quite a thrill to read. It dazzles and delights with some authentic regional dialect to go along with the equally authentic characters. Each character's motives were clear in every story, and honestly, I was left begging for more. Crime, love, and a lost friend are just a few subjects in Ms. Summerland's stories, each holding a lasting weight of their own.. I always measure how good a book is by one simple question: "Would I read it again?"
My answer for this book is "Yes, I would read it again. Many many more times, in fact."
There is nothing I like better than a surprise in a story, whether it be somewhere else in the story or the ending.
Flash Five delivers on that surprise, having me shaking my head with every story. Whether you like sexy, supernatural or mysterious...you will find something you like it this little book.
5 Stars...I highly recommend it!
