Describes the working methods of Alfred Hitchcock and his insights into the filmmaking process through the letters and memories of the author, who collaborated with Hitchcock in making the film, "The Birds"
Born Salvatore Albert Lombino, he legally adopted the name Evan Hunter in 1952. While successful and well known as Evan Hunter, he was even better known as Ed McBain, a name he used for most of his crime fiction, beginning in 1956.
Interesante libro sobre la relación creativa entre Alfred Hitchcock y el guionista Evan Hunter, pero demasiado breve y telegráfico. Curioso saber que al propio guionista de Los pájaros el final de la película le dejó tan frío como a mí 😅.
Lightweight, super quick read of how Hitch was a bit of a bugger to work with but otherwise a genius. As told by the screenwriter of The Birds and Marnie.
This short memoir from Hunter (who also wrote as Ed McBain) about his working with Hitchcock on The Birds and Marnie fairly sings off the page, full of incident and detail and beautifully written. Honest but clearly admiring of the great director, this is an invaluable snap-shot of a creative period that gets rosier with every year that passes. Highly recommended.
