Focusing on the true meaning of Christmas

The daily readings and prayers helped keep me focused on the true meaning of Christmas. Mr. Lawrence explains biblical things in a way that's simple, yet profound. I find myself carrying his words with me throughout the day, pondering and sharing them. It's truly a book of Christmas joy!

Very good Devotional

This book is meant to be read in the days leading up to Christmas. I feel that it could be read at any time of the year. The story of Jesus's birth is told, but, it is really more than that being told.

I enjoyed this book.

I loved this Advent book and how it was set up. I will definitely reread this. I recommend it for everyone who wants to prepare for Advent and the miracle of Jesus birth - at Christmas or anytime.

Psychologists suggest happiness is a reflection of personal attitude and lifestyle. It is more than emotion and is dependent on one's relationships, perceived meaningfulness, and achievements. Likewise, religious scholars believe joy is not based on circumstance but a commitment stronger than feeling. Mel Lawrenz, pastor and author, believes the source of this joy is Christ. For Christians, Christmas embodies God's gift of light and life to mankind by revealing himself as Man. By daily reading this book, I was gently reminded of the lasting peace that comes from God. Each day defined and added context to words within the New Testament's Christmas story, opening my eyes to the intent, power, and presence of God. In the midst of a hustling, bustling holiday season, adding this devotional to my routine was exactly what I needed. Merry Christmas!

Mel Lawrenz's little book, CHRISTMAS JOY: A DEVOTIONAL, is a wonderful way to be reminded throughout the month leading up to our Christmas celebration of the reason we even celebrate Christmas. It's simple, straight-forward, and helps remind us of the Joy of Christmas.
