For little girls who love Ladybug Girl and Fancy Nancy, here’s the perfect story to share on any day you’re filled with love!
“Today I am Superlove! There will be love, a wedding, and happily ever after.”
So begins the day of one young girl who decides to stage a wedding between her stuffed animal, Mr. Mittens, and Pinky—her cat. Pinky is less than thrilled with the idea, even when Superlove dresses up as the flower girl and arranges some practice weddings between her other stuffed animals. Will Superlove get Pinky out of the tree in time to be the blushing bride? Or will she come up with another way to save the day?
There will be love, a wedding, and happily ever after.
This is a cute and beautifully illustrated picture book about a little match-maker - a girl who nicknames herself Superlove - who pretends-play in her garden. With her special wand of love she decides who will fall in love today and she works hard to prepare a perfect wedding - with pretty things hanging down from tree branches in the garden, a special path to walk on, lots of guests and a place for the bride and groom to stand. And the little girl is going to be the most perfect flower girl ever.
As a kid, I loved pretend-play. Together with friends, we pretend-played grocery store, family, school and, of course, weddings, too. I am very fond of those memories and I think every child loves to pretend-play and make-believe. It teaches them creativity, helps their imagination grow and introduces them to certain concepts. And, of course, it's super fun to play!
Superlove is a really adorable story that will appeal to many little girls. Girls love dreaming about weddings, pretty things and love - and this book has all that and more! The little girl in this story is really darling and I'm sure kids will love reading about her. The drawings are very detailed, colorful and funny, and reading this book is very entertaining. And Pinky the cat is just a precious, if a little bit reluctant, companion.
Superlove shares one little girls plans to hold a wedding between Pinky, her cat and a stuffed dog named, Mr. Mittens. Illustrated by Mark Chambers the book colorfully takes us through the day from pancake love to Pinky's uncooperative nature. You and your child will laugh as Harper brings it all together with the help of Mommy and Daddy. I love that the book has lots of illustrations and as your child grows you will be able to point out and name objects. Superlove is sure to make your little girl giggle. Today the self-proclaimed Superlove is determined to marry off all of her stuffed animals and pets. (Naturally, she will be the matchmaker, decorator, and flower girl in this scenario.) Unfortunately, Pinky the cat refuses to cooperate. But when Superlove tearfully tells her mom her troubles, they are able to come up with an alternate plan.
This love-and-flower-filled book is perfect for wedding-obsessed children, and the ending is very cute. Kids from broken homes may not find the twist quite as sweet or romantic, however.
As a little girl, I loved to play "wedding." This story was both humorous and sweet and hopefully will inspire some creative play in little ones. (I was allowed to pick as many wildflowers as I wanted for my bouquets.)
Superlove plans a wedding between Mr. Mittens and Pinky with herself dedicated to being the flower girl. All of Superlove's planning and preparation are going well. But when it's time for the actual wedding, Pinky puts a damper on the main event.
I was not blown away by this book. My daughter grabbed it at the library and I don't think it's one we'll pick up again.
The story didn't wow me at all. It's just about a little girl who is trying to make her cat and a stuffed animal get married. Naturally the cat isn't interested. Eventually her parents "get married" instead.
The illustrations weren't anything super special and the story just didn't grab me at all. Young readers might get a kick out of it, but it's not one that I'll be reading again.
I thought that this was a cute story. The illustrations are fun. It's a very lighthearted story.
Today "Superlove" is going to have a wedding for her cat, Pinky, and Superlove gets to be the flower girl. The problem is Pinky has no inclination to partake in her wedding. Superlove gets everything set up for the ceremony and Pinky is still refusing to participate. What can you really expect from a cat? This story is about a little girl who wants to be part of a wedding because weddings are fun and they have things like flowers and cake. What little girl doesn't enjoy dressing up, eating cake and playing with flowers? When Superlove can't get Pinky to participate she first marries off her wedding guests (i.e. her stuffed animals). Soon Mom comes to the rescue and helps Superlove with a solution to the Pinky problem. Mom and Dad to the rescue - and Superlove gets to be the flower girl in their backyard wedding ceremony.
I think a lot of little girls can relate to this story. Weddings are super fun to play imagination with. Eating cake and throwing flowers, what's not fun about that? This story makes me think of all the times my friends and I used to play dress-up. It's fun with bright illustrations and a little girl that really falls into her role as flower girl.
The pictures in this book are decidedly pink and girly, which will appeal to preschoolers who like Fancy Nancy, Pinkalicious, and books by Charise Mericle Harper, such as Pink Me Up. The cartoonish faces on the characters are very sweet, and the dubious expressions on the cat's face add a fun layer to the story that acts in opposition to the joyful tone of the text.
The appeal of this book is limited. Though some little girls like to read about weddings, love and marriage are generally pretty far removed from the preschool experience. I wouldn't use it in story time for that reason, and because some of the illustrations are pretty tiny and would be hard to see at even a small distance.
This is the book you can suggest at that moment when a parent requests a title to share with a child who is soon to be a flower girl. Otherwise, for better or for worse, the pink polka-dotted title on the cover is going to sell this book just fine without much help.
A young girl calls herself Superlove and decides to host a wedding, whether the cat, Pinky, likes it or not. For all of her preparations and rehearsals, Pinky refuses to cooperate in the end. The girl’s mom saves the day by playing the bride and recruits her husband to be the groom. Superlove not only hosts, but gets to be the flower girl too and all is well. This is a fun-loving story with a mom who encourages her child’s creativity and imagination. The digital illustrations mimic watercolor and are cartoon-like in nature. I recommend for purchase.
Who needs Superman when you have Superlove. She's spreading love every which way she can and what's more romantic than a wedding. She'll decorate, invite guests, and even pick the bride and groom. The only problem is the bride doesn't seem interested. Will the wedding be a failure? Very cute book.
Superlove tells the story of a young girl obsessed with weddings. Looking forward to be an official flower girl, Superlove sets her plan in motion only to be thwarted by her pet cat's lack of cooperation.Mom and Dad come to the rescue to save the day for Superlove.
Always on the lookout for a non-violent superpower and this one is great - making people (er, pets and dolls) fall in love! Terrific gift for a flower girl!
Sweet ending probably will be appreciated most by children who have not taken part in weddings that create blended families.
It was ok, it didn't really hold my daughter's interest, but to be fair it is past due for her morning nap. The ending is what made the book, though. It was really sweet. I could see my husband and I doing that for our daughter.
I LOVED playing "Wedding" when I was little and wanted to get everyone and everything married. And, once again, I so appreciate when parents are depicted "playing along."
