My story is a complicated one because I’m the villain in my sister’s happily ever after.Time doesn’t make the heart grow fonder. Instead, it twists what you know.I’m twenty-four years old and still considered a minor in Cinder’s kingdom.I thought forging my future through hacking and stealing from the rich would set me up for life… but now the steel door to Forbach Reform Camp is slamming shut behind me.There’s three different rehabilitation programs here, but I’ve been chosen for the worst one. My instructors are cruel, the warden has his eyes on me, and nothing is as it seems. How do I con secrets out of others with my body when I’m a virgin?I don’t know how I’m going to get through this, but this still has to be better than prison… right?Someway, somehow, I will bring them to their knees with desire. This is a book 1 of 2 in a Cinderella’s step-sister fractured retelling. Nothing is as it seems.

I wonder how this girl is so innocent. It’ll be fun dirtying her up and corrupting her.

Desire is a fast-paced story of political intrigue, a vengeful queen, a broken girl, and the men and woman who come to love her. It will pull you in and keep you in its clutches throughout, filled with twists and turns and a heady dose of angst.

Desire is an excellent title, but Obsession would have fit too. Those that surround the FMC find themselves inexorably drawn to her. They come to want to protect her and sully her simultaneously.

Jenn did a great job allowing the FMC to build relationships with each of her suitors. While some might have quickly progressed to the physical stage, others had a slower build-up.

There is SO much spice and dirty talk! The romance is insta-lust and fast burn, loaded with multiple kinks. This is a story about sexual exploration. The FMC transitions from a naïve virgin to a woman in charge of her pleasure. There are MM, MF, FF, and group scenes written in explicit detail.

Desire ends in a killer of a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to book 2.

Desire is the first book in the A Forbach Villain’s Duet. This a contemporary, twisted retelling of Cinderella where we are in Cinderella’s stepsister shoes.

You have:
*Cinderella’s stepsister
*Bully
*Age gap
*Forced proximity
*Teacher/student dynamics
*V!rg!n FMC
*Political intrigue
*Trauma survivor
*Rehabilitation/Prison setting
*Twinsies
*Bi-awakening, with MM, FF, MF-Whychoose,
*Spicy K!nķs/Triggers Galore
*Obsession

Like holy...sh**!!! You made me actually love Drizilla (Sillla). This was soooo good! I mean, NOT only was this plot driven, but you also have FANTASTIC worldbuilding, amazing character development, HOOOOOT spicy scenes/training, and when you think one thing is gonna happen, you are completely blindsided. I feel that this is the best book Jenn has ever done so far. There's nothing I love more than Villain stories. AND THAT FREAKING CLIFFHANGER?!?!? Definitely anticipating the next book!!

Class is again in session:

Those of you that have been personally victimized by Jenn Bullard, I need you to raise your hand so we can have a new head count!!

I love retellings. And Jenn just has these characters that speak right to you and take a part of your very soul with them. Desire was such a unique Cinderella retelling with that Jenn trademark way of making you fall for not only the main character, but the Golden Retriever psychopath with the 3 yr old zoomies, that makes pinky promises.

Desire is a why choose, MM, FF, with angst, twists and turns, epic world building, awesome character development, plot thick, forced proximity, age gap, with bi awakening (s). There's even a virgin that is forced to take part in a very specific type of espionage....

Check those TWs!!

CLASS DISMISSED.

what I guess are going to be the harem members are too tame for me. They’re immediately nice to her and try to help her without even knowing her. Maybe something is wrong with me but it just felt off. Wouldn’t everybody care for themselves first and foremost in such an environment?
The dialogue and inner monologue also felt unnatural.
Finally I couldn’t muster the energy for another Mary Sue saving her realm by sheer idealism.

SPICY!!!!! Hot Damn!

MMFFMM

It's different.. retelling of Cinderella but not.. I was a little confused of the plot and how the world works. Wish there was more detail from the beginning to understand what the story was coming from. I wish we had more detail on the characters looks.

It is a good book overall and would recommend!

I have been personally victimized by Jenn Bullard… 😂

I love retellings and this was my first Cinderella retelling! I loved it so much! I loved how Jenn created these characters that speak to you and take a part of your soul!

Desires was such a fun read unique retelling that I will never get enough of! I absolutely laughed my ass of, cried, and wanted to hurt people throughout this book!

It’s so hard not to fall for all these characters! They are all so different yet make the best group together! I love how you get your unhinged psychopathic guys that will burn the world down for her but are also the sweet and caring guys!

This story follows Drizella, or Silla, as she lands herself at a reform camp because surely that’s better the prison… right? Well this camp isn’t what it’s made out to be…

In the Forbach Reform Camp, images are put into nice sounding rehabilitation programs. But behind those programs are cruel instructors, hot and grumpy wardens, secrets and so much more - All to be found out by ways of the body. Kinda hard for a virgin, right?

Absolutely incredible! 4 1/2 stars ⭐️

Fast paced, streamy and full of twists and turns.

Desire hooks you in straight away, such a special talent Jenn has with her writing and this does not disappoint once again.

I love the pacing throughout this book and nowhere does it leave you disappointed! This has to be my fave Jenn book so far!

Of course be ready for the cliff hanger we all expect now but the whole book rewards you well before that heartbreak.

Poorly planned and littered with -isms

This is one of the rougher books I’ve read over the last few months, which is unfortunate, because the idea at least has some potential.

Light spoilers follow, but I genuinely believe it is not worth it to read this book, so I don’t know if it matters.

The big, glaring issue of this book is that it is frustratingly, overtly weird to sex workers. “Silla isn’t a prostitute, she’s really smart” is a direct quote from this book, and this concept—that Silla doesn’t deserve what’s happening to her because she’s not REALLY a sex worker—is never meaningfully challenged throughout the entire book. The other people in Silla’s classes, all people who are criminals and most of whom have been busted for “prostitution,” are seen as people who “deserve” the treatment they’re given. Silla, however, doesn’t deserve this treatment, not because it’s an awful way to treat another human, but because she’s smarter, prettier, and more innocent than the rest of them. Indeed, there is a character who treats her poorly because he perceives her as a sex worker, and instead of this being the book finally grappling with, “perhaps we should be treating all sex workers with more dignity,” Silla, again, is only supposed to be spared this because she is not “really” a sex worker. The through line is clear: sex workers do not deserve to be treated with dignity.

Even aside from this problem, issues abound. There are three bisexual women in this book aside from the protagonist, and all three start out as evil rapists. One of them is eventually rehabilitated as part of the protagonist’s RH, but this is partially due to the fact that no one ever REALLY recognizes that she assaulted the protagonist. Indeed, there is a disconcerting victim-blaming statement from the protagonist that refers to the assault as the protagonist “paying for her mistake”, with the mistake being, I suppose, assuming that someone would not try to assault her in her sleep? It is partially recognized by another character that it is not possible to consent while you are asleep, but this never really goes anywhere; it’s eye candy to distract you from the fact that this relationship started with an assault.

Speaking of victim blaming, a genuinely startling amount of rhetoric in this book goes toward the fact that it was wrong for this character to assault the protagonist because she was a virgin (which, notably, “virginity” is only ever discussed in terms of PIV sex; the two women having sex is not considered to be the protagonist losing her virginity. Very cool). The actual, direct quote from the book is, “I explained that you were a virgin so Andrya could see how wrong she was just to assume she could force herself on you.” Indeed, you should also not be trying to assault someone who has had sex before, no matter how many times they have had sex. This idea is never rebutted in-text. It is not a character saying something we should disagree with. It is just presented. A genuinely unhinged thing to put in your book.

Less important, but I think still important to include in the review, is that the handling of childhood trauma is clumsy at best. It feels like the author needs Cinder to just be evil for this book premise to work. But it doesn’t make sense for her to just be evil. It is recognized that Cinder was also a victim of childhood abuse, just in a different way than Silla was, and yet, the narrative feels comfortable calling Cinder, at the time she was a child who had just lost her mother and was marrying into a family with an abusive new stepmother, “a brat.” In a better book, this would be a narrative option to discuss how trauma can make you do evil things, or it can make you strive to be better, and with dedication, you can break the cycle, but without it, you will repeat it. In this book, Cinder was just evil from the start, because some children are just born evil, I suppose.

Even if I did not find this book repulsive morally, it’s also written fairly poorly. Dialogue all sounds the same, regardless of who’s saying it, and none of the characters know how to speak to each other like humans. Thoughtful exposition is neglected in favor of infodumping monologues that sound like hastily-written video game dialogue, and characters are given a veneer of evil to make them a fun “dark romance” option, but never allowed to actually follow through, because Silla is so pretty and smart and wonderful that everyone in the world falls over themselves the moment they see her. This also makes Silla an incredibly grating and frustrating character to read, because she is at once the perfect protagonist #Girlboss and also a broken emo princess, and the attempt to thread that line makes her come off as juvenile. It reads like Once Upon a Time fanfiction, and not the good or fun type.

This is a very rough book. I do not think it is salvageable. Even if you are an enjoyer of fun smut-filled larks, I would encourage you to go find something else.

Jenn does is again! And oh, what an evil genius this wonderful lady is 😈

This is was such a unique take on Cinderella evil step sister classic retelling, and it was awesome!
I’ve always been drawn to Jenn’s writing style, it is fantastic, you can’t help but to be enchanted by her words, and the worlds she creates a builds. It’s like you are right there living the fairytell!
The FMC is a virgin, and this is a trope I absolutely love, that I don’t get to read often! Silla goes from an inexperienced , pretty clueless virgin, and grows into this bad ass who takes control a charge of what she wants, and her pleasure. The sexual exploration/awakening in this book was absolutely top tier! I may or may not have had deja vu a few times, revisiting my years an growing into a woman who decided to take control herself, an not be afraid to show, or say what I wanted! This made this book , just than much more fun!
You will get to meet the twisted trio, from the beginning you just get so ticked off, they are teachers, and let’s just say their techniques were less than favorable. I was screaming HOW IS THIS OKAY??
But In true Jenn fashion, she knows how to make you fall for each of her characters, right along with the FMC. Aside from the twisted trio, we get Issac and Grey. Isaac I loved from the very beginning, he was so very protective of our sweet Silla. Grey wasn’t really a Villan I would say that had to win your heart over, but it took me a bit to warm up to him!
Be prepared for many, and I mean MANY , edge of your seat, screaming, mad crying, twists, turns and OMFG are you kidding me moments! They sure make this that much more juicer of a story!
Ugh. Sillas step sister is definitely a C word I won’t type out here, but I can’t wait til our girl gets ultimate revenge on her, cause as cliche as it is, karma is a b!tch an she always bites back. And our girl is coming for all the wrong doings an harms that have been done to her! And I’m waiting with a smile on my face
The spice is SPICING , the dirty & $exy talk is mm soo hott!!
Make sure you check the trigger warnings , but if you are a fan of :
Retellings that are not like any others
Why choose with FF MM MF
Bully
Forced Proximity
Age gap
Sexual & bi awakening 🥵
Degradation & praise
Plus much more! As long as the trigger warnings are safe for you, jump into this book like YESTERDAY’ be prepared for a cliff hanger, it wouldn’t be a JB book without one, but she does them so well, an we also never have to wait too long for the next book, so that’s a plus!
Can’t wait to get this beauty of a book on my bookshelf! The cover is just as amazing as the book itself!
Get to reading, you will enjoy it just as much as I have, that’s a promise I’m willing to make 😘

I love a good fairytale retelling. This time, what if the princess is actually the villain and the “evil” step sister isn’t…well evil?

“Sometimes, you have to dig deep for the truth…The truth is, people will always rewrite your story so that you’re the villain”

Drizella (Stilla)Tremaine, step sister to queen Cinder, wants you to know that everything you think you know about her, is blatantly wrong. Found guilty of trumped up charges she has a split second to pick between going to prison or Forbach Reform Camp. Nothing can be worse than prison right?

Stilla is super smart and a very talented hacker. Once at FRC she learns there are three sections she can be assigned to, all designed to help inmates develop their assets to be of use to the kingdom - Intelligence, Computer Programming, and Accounting. She should be in computer programming but when she assigned to Section B (accounting) she knows something is very very wrong here.

She is warned not to trust anyone and to keep her secrets to herself. She catches the eye of the Warden and he is also suspicious of why she is here. After her cruel instructors Sidney, Andrya, and Ayden go too, she in a world of hurt. Why are they so cruel? Is there ever anything good about a psychopath? Can Stilla survive her time at FRC?

This is such a great flipped retelling of Cinderella!  I haven't read one before that flips Cinder to the villain.  The characters in this book grab hold of you and don't let go! It is a wild ride and I promise you will not be able to put it down.  It's one part angsty fairytale, one part part political drama and one part flaming spice.  The different characters have so many layers to them you never really know exactly who to believe.  This ends on a cliffhanger, but the second book is coming soon!

Desire is book 1 in the Forbach Villain’s Duet by Jenn Bullard.

“The truth is, people will always rewrite your story so that you’re the villain. My name is Drizella Tremaine, and everything you think you know about me… is blatantly wrong.”

The FMC Drizella Tremaine who goes by “Silla” is brought to court on some charges. Against her lawyers advice, she decides her fate between going to prison or Forbach Reform Camp. She chooses to go to FBC without any knowledge of what she will be doing there because she thinks what could be worse than prison? She soon realizes there was no good choice.

The FRC has 3 different programs that the inmates are tested to see which one they will be placed in. Silla is placed in the worst one & has to learn how to survive with the cruel trio of instructors, MF twins Ayden & Andrya, and Sydney.

Desire is not your ordinary Cinderella step-sister retelling. It had me in a chokehold from the first chapter. Just when I thought I knew what was going on, something would happen. This book had so many twists & turns & It was definitely dark and twisted but I couldn’t get enough of it! This is my first FF/MM book I’ve read & the FMC having more than 3 love interests but hey the more the merrier! It is a insta love, fast burn book.

I absolutely loved Grayson & Issac & man chapter mother f*cking 7 was 🥵 but honestly the whole book had great spice with so much dirty talk and kinks.

This book is the perfect mixture of plot and spicy scenes! Even though It does end on a cliffhanger I can honestly give this book a solid 5 stars on everything.

Now I cannot wait for the next book to release!

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves dark, smutty reads, & a strong ass FMC.

If you don’t like FF/MM/RH books then this is not for you. Again check Trigger Warnings!

“Sometimes, you have to dig deep for the truth…The truth is, people will always rewrite your story so that you’re the villain”

Jenn does it again, the angry messages I sent her when I finished this book may possibly get me blocked but you know what, she deserved it. YOU CANNOT LEAVE US LIKE THAT.

Safe to say I will never be able to watch Cinderella again without my mind wandering.

In this retelling, Cinder now rules alongside Prince Charming but not all is a fairytale as it’s seems. Her “evil” stepsister finds herself in reform camp after being caught hacking and found guilty of other bogus charges because that is better than prison right? Well this isn’t your ordinary reform camp. She finds herself going to be trained to be a spicy spy for Cinder, the only problem? She’s a virgin. With the handsome protective warden, his best friend and the f*cked up trio all vying for her attention it doesn’t take long for the walls Silla has built up to protect herself to slowly come down. But will she get her HEA?

The spice in this book oh lord the spice was stunning. I loved that we got individual and then group scenes making the development of the relationships feel more natural. I have to say I would give any money to be a part of a Silla and Andrya sandwhich!

Spice aside, the story itself kept me capitulated. Each character has their own development but none as much as the trio. I loved seeing their inner struggles realising that they actually feel something for Silla which hasn’t happened to them before. Silla is a strong character though and doesn’t just give up easily, making them work for her attention.

I cannot wait to see where this story goes but am also terrified because I know Jenn will make me suffer for my HEA.

We all know the classic fairytale of Cinderella, how she was forced to endure a rough life under the hand of her stepmother and stepsisters. But do any of us know how she really was?
This book takes a spin on that fairytale and, believe me...I don't think we really knew the damsel.
We meet Silla, Cinder's step sister. She's just trying to survive in a world that Cinder helped mold...only it's not going quite as well as she expected. She's been caught and now she faces a justice system that doesn't really seem accurate. The rough cards that she's been dealt all her life only get worse when she's presented with two choices: Jail or a camp.
Pretty simple choice, right? Except Silla had no idea what she was getting into.
Her world is literally turned upside down as she's sucked into the life at camp. There's no one here she can trust. As time goes on, things change. A select few manage to breech the wall that she's built around herself--and some of them are very unexpected. With every possible bond comes its own challenges and sweet rewards. Silla must work her way through all of this to help uncover why she's here and who these people may become to her.
So many hot scenes that were pure fire (They were so good) and parts that I felt Silla's frustration alongside her. It was amazing to watch her grow throughout the book and learn that some people CAN be trusted.
That doesn't mean that I was prepared for the ending. I think I still have whiplash from it!

I highly recommend this book! It has so many delicious moments, INTENSE moments, and those that just want to make you scream. You're going to love it. I know I did!! Fantastic job, Jenn!!

Well what can I say, I was hooked from the get go there were so many twists and turns that opened my eyes. The storyline was great, the characters were well written, the smexy scenes were hot🥵 and that ending damn girl that freaking ending. You feel rage, you see red, but then everything was right again and bam that cliffy!

In this story we meet Silla who has been sent off to reform school where she doesn’t make the best of choices. Along the way she meets a few people and from there were taken on a wild roller coaster ride. I devoured this book I couldn’t put it down at all. Theirs alot of steamy action.

I definitely admire Silla so much. She has gone through so much In her life and still is. She's so broken but thankfully she found some people that showed her how much she deserves to be loved. She's really smart, beautiful, funny and she's a great hacker 😉

I actually fell in love with all the men and woman who fell for Silla. She built a emotional and physical connection to each of them. Loved how the author did this cause it really gave Silla and the readers time to get to know each character a lot better. The way they all worship her and would do anything to protect her had me ugly crying.

I'm telling you Desire hooks you in straight away, Jenn has such a great talent with her writing and this does not disappoint once again. I cannot wait for part two. Highly highly recommend it.

Jenn Bullard did it again! This time around, she took a beloved fairytale and twisted it in her typical Master Edger ways. Thought you knew the story about Drizella Tremaine, the "evil stepsister" of "loving and beautiful" Cinderella? Think again!

The story follows Drizella, or Silla, as she lands herself in a reform camp, because surely, it has to be better than prison, right? Well... Let's say it isn't all that it was made out to be.

In the Forbach Reform Camp, inmates are put into nice sounding rehabilitation programs, but behind those programs, there are cruel instructors, hot and grumpy wardens, secrets and a lot more - all to be found out by ways of the body. Kind of difficult for a virgin, right ?

Jenn wrote a great retelling with this book and even though it's pretty thick, it reads really fast and ends, in usual Jenn fashion, in a cliffhanger - but not to worry, it's not her worst and the second book of the duet is on the horizon.

The plot contains a multitude of characters from sweet and innocent to "please go fall on a sharp stick" and everything in between. It's a mixture of angst, dark and deprived and oh so very naughty (expect fm, mm, ff and all of the above).

I strongly recommend to read this series, but please do read the trigger warning in advance, as there are quite a few of them.

Jenn.... I love you and hate you at the same time. Your imagination and brain amaze me. I read a lot. several books a week and so many of the stories are the same. The highs, the lows, I can predict what happens next. With Jenn.... that isn't something I can do. There are lots of WTF moments in this book mixed with so much amazingness! A completely different take on a Cinderella story.  Cinder is a horrible person and I can't wait for KARMA. She sets Silla up from the very beginning, but I still want to know how she learned about the hacking. This book has so many twists and turns. From the very first page you will fall in love with Silla. Some of her love interests... I am not going to lie I hated in the beginning. I was like really? Really? They do what in class and to who? But you learn to love their crazy and how fiercely they come to care for Silla. I loved Grey and Isaac from the beginning and love the dynamic of the whole Harem, dark, twisted, a little psychotic but so spicy. Can't wait for the next book. What is Cinder going to do to Silla. This thought scares me  a little because previous Jenn books show me that she isn't afraid to "go there", go to a place that is so dark and crazy, it will make you cry and cringe and feel so broken for the main Heroine but she will give her redemption and I can't wait to be along for the ride.

Raise your hand if you love fairytale retellings. Raise your hand if you love reverse harems with MM and FF. Raise your hand if you want to be locked on the edge of your seat, trying to navigate this new world that Jenn Bullard threw you into and you can't get out, nor would you want to.

This fairytale retelling takes the story of Cinderella but turns it on its ass. Do you remember Drizella, the evil stepsister who made Cinderella's life a living nightmare? How's this story for a change? A fantastically twisted tale where Cinderella is the evil stepsister and makes Silla's life a living nightmare, all from the comforts of her castle several hours away.

Without knowing the full weight of what is happening, Silla is thrusted into a prison reform camp, where she's now learning how to be a recruit and be part of the employ of her evil Queen stepsister. Once there, she meets Grayson the Warden, he calls her Dangerous. Isaac, a sexy nerd computer guy who takes an instant liking to Silla. The trio of instructors, twins Ayden, Andrya and Sidney. This trio is just effed up. But Sidney became a favorite. It might be his unhinged, psycho energy. And I love the psychos.

Jenn Bullard knows how weave a tale. She certainly kept me locked in on this one. And I cannot wait for book 2!

That’s a teeny cliffhanger

This was a great book one an a teeny cliffhanger it leaves you wanting so much more.

Silla is so innocent throughout the whole book even though she’s learning she does know some life lessons the hard way.

At first I hated everyone who ends up in the harem but as the book goes on they grew on me an now I love them all.

Zack got what he deserved from Andrea an I died laughing that was hilarious.

Cinder is such an evil twisted twatwaffle.

This maybe a modern day retelling of Cinderella but her stepsister but it’s so good with how you still get bits in the book from the original story per say.

I loved how they all would go to bat for each other regardless of what happened. Silla is discovering that there are people out there who will always be there for no other reason then that they love an care for you.

There are a few funny things in the book I found hilarious the one liners to start with are great. The spicy stuff that happens is very spicy at times.

I can’t wait for book two that tiny cliffhanger was not bad but it’s one that makes you need book two so bad.

Check your triggers before reading this book is dark an if you don’t like FF or MM then it’s not for you. It’s a RH as well I loved that you don’t see many in retellings an it’s a breath of fresh air.

First and foremost. READ the trigger and content warnings for this one. Your mental health is most important. This book isn't for the faint of heart in some ways and can be damaging to some of past traumas.

Desire is a fractured fairy tale retelling at its best! Cinderella thrown upside down and thrown through the wash. Queen Cinder is a bad person. Silla, her step sister, has been convicted of crimes that are impossible for reasons you'll read as you go, thrown to the wolves when she thinks she is picking a reform camp over true prison. Once at the RC, she finds out she might not have picked the right 'punishment', tho she isn't guilty of anything but having a step sister that hates her, a mother that wasn't loving, but this is where she finds herself.

Throw in a hot warden, a hacking instructor with an eye for true talent, and 3 misfits that teach 'Section B' and you get a mind blowing 400+ page novel that will keep you guessing what will happen to the very last page that throws you into the washer and spits you out with your heart torn out to pieces.

Idk how long we'll have to wait for book 2 of this duet, but I am anxiously awaiting a HEA that is deserved, and I hope we ALL get.

OH MY GOD

I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I JUST READ. I would do anything rn to get my hands on book 2 😭😭😭

This is my first time reading a book were Cinderella is the villain and not the stepsister. If you love fairytale retelling I would 100% recommend this one.

The book pulled me in right away and it did not let me go until I finished. I definitely admire Silla so much. She has gone through so much In her life and still is. She's so broke but thankfully she found some people that showed her how much she deserves to be loved. She's also really smart and an amazing hacker.

I literally fell in love with all the men and woman who fell for Silla. She was able to build a emotional and physical connection to each of them. Loved how the author did this cause it really gave Silla and the readers time to get to know each character a lot better. The way they all worship her and would do anything to protect her had me in tears.

I think my favorite part about the book was seeing how much Silla grew. She definitely became a lot more confident. She still has a lot of trauma to deal with though.

There is a lot of spicy scenes in this book like A LOT. Each and every scene was very hot and it never felt like too much.

unique fairytale retelling.

This story is about Drizella “Silla” one of the stepsisters in the Cinderella fairytale. In this adaptation Cinder is actually evil and Silla is the innocent.
The story is decent and has some unique spins in the tale.
The characters are a little predictable in their designations, Silla the meek virgin with the hot nerd, the gruff warden, and the redeemable bullies. The terror trio were definitely awful in the beginning but of course the turn Around is fast paced and by the end of Silla’s first day at the reform camp two of the guys in the harem are already in love. And not long after all the harem is established and also in love.
There is FF interaction in this book which is fine but the other female does also have a relationship with one of the other males in the harem which I wish had been in the TW.
The smut takes up the majority of the story and the plot is definitely secondary because a lot of gaps are left as to what is happening with the actual storyline. Hopefully book two provides the clear answers. The cliffhanger was definitely a missed opportunity and I wish more effort had gone into making it believable and seem like less of an rushed afterthought to just end the book.

5⭐ 5🌶️

I am once again blown away by a world and characters created by Jenn. I've read a get amount of retellings, but I do not think I have read any in the world of Cinderella. I love that Desire is about one of the step-sisters and not Cinderella.

When Silla isn't anxiety-ridden, she is sassy and strong-willed. This life ahead of her in the reform camp is not going to be easy and she has no idea what she has gotten herself into.

The group of characters that are her love interests are all so complex and varying degrees of unhinged. They each bring something different the table, but they way they all come to care for her is astounding. Just remember that there is MM and FF within this group 😉.

If I didn't have work and other responsibilities get in the way, I would have absolutely read this book in one sitting. It draws you in immediately, and will have you NEEDING to know what is about to happen.

Of course a book wouldn't truly be a Jenn Bullard book with out the freaking cliffhanger at the end!!! While I wouldn't say this is the biggest cliffhanger in one of her books, it isn't quite a baby one either.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this book, but only because I've never read a fairytale retelling, but Jenn absolutely nailed it, and I'm so glad I took a chance!

Silla, the FMC, is a quiet, reserved introvert, who just wants to be left alone to live her life. Her step-sister, Cinder, the queen, seems to have a vendetta against her and does what she can to make Silla's life miserable. Silla ends up in a "Reform Camp" after being arrested for hacking, and that's when things go from bad to worse. The instructors are cruel and truly enjoy torturing people, the warden is a hard@$$ who actually seems to care about the people in his facility, and Silla doesn't know who, if anyone, she can trust.

As this is a retelling of a classic story, it has some similarities, but this is NOT a children's bedtime story. You might think you know what's going to happen, but you'd be wrong. It's intriguing, heartbreaking, humorous, and seriously sexy. There are plenty of those hot, steamy scenes we all love.

MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS, as Silla has a bit of a rough time while in the Reform Camp. Even with all of that, I know you'll love it as much as I did!

I love fairytale retellings as well as retellings from a side character perspective. So I really love the idea of this entire story.

Silla is a great character with a lot of bad things happening to her and little control over the situation. She just wants to keep her head down and get through it all.

The love interests were all intriguing. They were different enough to not get mixed up often.

I will say there was some odd character development or outright change in some aspects of personality for a couple of the main characters that I didn’t care for. It could just be me on that, but I was able to get past it because the storyline was so interesting.

Please please check your triggers on this because there is a lot of stuff happening, and it’s pretty dark.

I don’t want to say too much and spoil anything because there were quite a few surprises here. The cliffhanger was rough, but not as bad as some of the others this author has had. We’ll just have to be patient while waiting for the next book.

Woah was this a retelling of a classic in a whole new light. If you like your retellings a little dark, spicy and secretive then you need to get your hands on this one.

This arthur's writing is so smooth each word flows into the next as she tells her stories is why she's one of my favorite's, and holy moley was this so good. It's a why choose, mm, ff that's oh so hot and you can't help, but fall for these character's and want to shout at the unfairness of it all. It's probably why Cinderella wasn't a favorite of mine...those evil step sisters lol.

Drizilla (Silla) Tremayne has found herself brought before her realms court after being arrested for thing's that she's being accused of and having to make a decision either prison or reform camp, and decides on the reform camp to only realize when she gets there that thing's aren't what they seem.

This does end on a cliffy, but don't let that stop you from reading it. I cannot wait to find out what happens in the next, because that ending was 😱.

There are triggers in here, so check the TW's before reading

I love the idea of doing a Cinderella retelling from one of her step-sister's POV and having Cinderella be evil.

This book pulled me in from the beginning. You feel the confusion that Silla has as to her charges and conviction. Then the way she's not really told anything about the Reform Camp. Then there's the way she's left cuffed for hours before being taken to the reform camp.

As with majority of Jenn's books this is a Why Choose. I've never read one where there's been more than 4 love interests. This book has 5. I was a bit weary of it because of this, but there is a balance of time that Silla spends with everyone that I feel that as a reader we get to know everyone.

Also, as it is a Jenn Bullard book in a Duet, be prepared for a cliffhanger. Jenn thought it was a baby cliffhanger, but it isn't. It's a normal cliffhanger from the Cliffhanger Queen.

If you enjoy forced proximity, age gap, MM, FF, and Why Choose, I recommend this book.

Raise your hand if you've been personally victimized by Jenn.... and keep coming back for more. LOL

I swear, once Jenn announced that she was writing a Cinderella dark, twisted duet I was IN. I love Jenn's writing, and her storytelling, plus the fun times *wink* make all of the darkness that much better. I also can't believe that cliffhanger, it's rough but if you've read any of her previous books you know it's not that bad.... which means the start of book 2 will hurt a LOT.

The band of misfits that Jenn has created is amazing, the characters are different, a little bit unhinged, but completely perfect for each other. Not all of the characters are good you'll find out real quick that Cinderella, isn't the sweet innocent one in this story. Silla aka Drizella, is at a reform camp, and it is not what she expects it to be AT ALL.

I had no idea what to expect, I mean I knew it would be dark, twisty, some humor and fun stuff, but beyond that. I was NOT prepared for how twisted it got. I require book 2, right meow.... please.

This is such an amazing take on the original Cinderella!!! So we are introduced to Scilla who is being charged with something she very very muchly didn't do. Scilla is a hacker and a darn good one at that, she is well known for keeping her eyes open and her head down. Without giving to many spoilers Scilla is being targeted, and taken out of anywhere she could have an influence. Cinder is not at all what she claims to be or seems to be and she has started really messing up the kingdom. Scilla is given two options at court and takes what she assumed to be the safer option, oh she really had no clue what she was facing. Where she goes is basically a training camp for assassins, spies and sex workers for the kingdom. Through the story we meet people who hate scilla, help scilla, hurt scilla... thankfully she does find a family of sorts.. but damn beware because Jenn is definitely known for her endings.. :) I loved this take on Cinderella and her stepsisters and can't wait for more
