A sweet mix of heartbreak, love, second chances, humor, sexy banter, unexpected surprises, and obstacles before Jake and Sadie reach their HEA. One thing to clarify because some readers are unhappy (and write negative reviews) with the character's sexual experience: Sadie is not a virgin - if you read the book blurb, it indicates that she's been married, and for those readers unaware of this, married women often have sex with their husband (◔_◔).

I’m a little disappointed since most of Jenna rose books have virgin heroines. In which this is not the case. Not going to rate since I didn’t read the whole book

Is it never discussed that she lied to him about her job?

Honestly It's girls like that give respecting consent a bad name. She said no, and now she's all like "oooo why isn't he chasing after me" shut the fuck up. AND THEN WHEN HE FINALLY REACHES OUT, SHE PUSHES HIM AWAY AGAIN OHMYGODDDDD. And then somehow when he doesn't reach out again first, Miss Ma'am is upset and is finally ready to apologize

Breaking The Rules of Love is a spicy bodyguard novel about breaking all the rules. I loved the tenacity of Jake and how determined he was to show Sadie that she deserves so much better than what she thinks she did. He was an absolute trooper when it came to patience and Sadie. He was so willing to continue to show her what she would be missing put on.


Sadie, Sadie. Sadie. This girl has sooo much to offer, if only she would let herself go a little. She didnt have to be so tightly wound to see that Jake wasnt who she was making him out to be. She worked so hard to keep herself from being in the same positin she was with her last husband she coulsnr see what she had in front of her.


🌶️🌶️🌶️- Some of the best scenes I have read. There was so much passion between Jake and Sadie. I feel like both of them had some oats to sew and could do that woth each other. I loved how they were both willing to spice things up more than just the plain vanilla.

Ok, so I'm.on the fence over this one. It's well written and well paced, but, and this is just my personal opinion, I couldn't get to like Sadie. For someone who's 'not twenty years old anymore' (no actual age given) she certainly behaves like it all the time. And it's beyond annoying. At first I was prepared to understand her behaviour but by the time I got to the cabin episode, where quite clearly things should have changed, Sadie's no relationship, no feelings rule became the boring mantra of a selfish brat.

It's beyond believable that anyone could behave like that. Ok I'm not the world's expert on relationships but surely anyone who is prepared to have sex multiple times with the same person has clearly developed some form of feelings for said person. Hence Sadie's behaviour became more annoying for me as the story progressed.

On the other hand you have to give it to Jake, he's such a trier! What a great guy! To take so much soul destroying crap and still be prepared to go for more, he either had to be desperate or in love. And love it was! Thank goodness there was a long overdue HAE.

Jake has his work cut out for him here. Sadie's last relationship, her marriage, left her broke and heartbroken. Her ex ran off with her life savings and her best friend. Talk about emotional damage. So it isn't surprising that she comes up with this rule. Come on, she is trying to protect her heart. Now when it comes to Jake, that's hard to do. He's crazy about her. Their chemistry is fire. There's some push/pull with her that some may find annoying. I found it realistic. This is the first time she's been with a man since her marriage and since she made her rule. She's a little all over the place. But Jake knows what he wants and he sticks with it. I absolutely loved this. I can't believe people have a problem with an author trying something new, especially when that author is still writing her other well known style. Give me a break. I'll take Jenna's books any way she makes them. They are always excellent. ❤️❤️

Sadie has had it with men, all they do is lie, chest and steal. She is only going to have casual relations, no feelings, no dates just fun. Two years since her divorce and she is commited to this, even if she hasn't acted on it yet. When her new sexy neighbour Jake moves in (ex military, owns and works at his security firm) there is instant chemistry and she can't wait to get him inside her, but he wants more and he is willing to fight for her.

This is an OTT Instalove romance, that remains light even though it deals with some pretty heavy things (Jake's back story and Sadie's ex ) but anything difficult is kind of glossed over and dealt with in a few sentences. This is a fun, hot and steamy read with a woman who likes to call her man daddy and let him take control, and an alpha male who saw his woman and knew she was the one to heal him, he fights and believes in her even when most people would give up.

Cute and happy HEA, tied everything up in a nice bow.

Breaking The Rules Of Love was so much more then I ever could have asked for and everything I never knew I needed . So I’m typically someone who reads dark romances pretty much 95% of the time ( it’s primarily that reason I don’t often pick up book that has the ability to make me smile, , cry and root so freaking hard all at once . Well Sadie And Jakes epic love story did it all and so much more . It’ a story of heartbreak and love and second chances . It’s filled with angst . Humor , witty banter , unexpected surprises, passion , family , friendships, tragedy , unexpected surprises, obstacles, awesome world building, dirty talking alphas a heroine you cannot help but fall in love with and a story that will simply keep you reading well into the early morning hours

This is my first Jenna Rose book and I absolutely loved it.

Sadie and Jake had my heart in a vice, and I desperately wanted to see them both together in the end.

Sadie is steadfast in her determination to never get into another relationship because of the few bad relationships she’s had, plus her disastrous marriage. But Jake has fallen head over heels for Sadie and is determined to change her mind and get her to fall hopelessly in love with him.

I laughed at these two and I ached for these two. I could not get enough of them. Plus, Jake is one hell of a dirty talker and he had me melting over that mouth of his!

Loved it and can’t wait to read more by this amazing author!

Sadie and Jake both have terrible backstories. Hers is her ex and ex girlfriend while his is the military trauma and more. She is dead set on never having a relationship again and only hooking up for one night at a time. He is determined to get the whole thing from love to family. Let the war on feelings begin.
Loved the characters, their determination, entertaining situations and backstories that make them relatable. The storyline gives you all the feels and smiles as they forge ahead to a great ending.

Breaking the rules of love is a standalone dual pov with a HEA.
Sadie refuses to get into another relationship after what happened with her ex but when Jake comes along everything changes.
From the beginning you can feel the tension and chemistry between the two which really draws you in and makes you want to see what happens next. There was quite a bit of spice but it was well balanced with the plot and the book itself was well written which made for an overall enjoyable reading experience. I’d recommend if you’re into Instalove, emotionally unavailable women, or spice.

This is a well written story which has humor, witty banter, emotions, family, friendships, heartbreak, a dirty talking alpha, and love, which leads to an entertaining and steamy page turner.

The story is about Sadie and Jake. Sadie had bad experiences with her ex-husband cheating, taking all the money and leaving with your best friend. Yep, she was trying to navigate in life. It was hard for her and felt she was trying to deal with herself, but Jake did go headfirst into, and I loved how he did it. With all the ups and downs it finally worked out and I believe Sadie learned from all this with Jake's help.

Sadie had such a horrible experience with her ex-husband that it caused her to adopt her no relationship rules and to swear off of men. However when she sees her sexy new neighbor Jake she really hopes that they can have fun together but Jake thinks that they can have everything. You really need to read this steamy emotional age-gap bad boy alpha insta-love romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Another great read by Jenna! This was a story about heartbreak, second chance a love with great banter, chemistry and a whole lot of spice.

Sadie has sworn off men but when hunky ex-military man Jake moves in next door, she’s questioning her own rules. I loved the instant connection and chemistry these two shared, it was well written and despite the challenges thrown their way, they were able to get their HEA. It’s a sweet, funny, insta love where he falls first and will have you swooning!

It was a good read. I gave it three stars because I did not find Sadie likeable. She had a bad marriage, and she assumed all guys were like the ones in her past relationships. Jake knew what he wanted from the start. He had a sad past. It was a steamy hot read.

I enjoyed this story more than I thought I would. Sadie and Jake were perfect for each other! Despite Sadie's initial stance on relationships, their connection was obvious from the start. Sure, Sadie was wishy-washy on relationships (for good reason), but that meant Jake had his work cut out for him here. Plus, Reverse age gap & He Falls First tropes are my jam, so, there's that!
