Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes
One of my favorite volumes ever! I love how each character has their turn in the spotlight, and I love how Ameri's storyline is given so much care an attention as she could have easily fallen into the "eldest daughter" trope of putting up a farce and hiding her vulnerability and gentleness in order to be respected; this volume explores and subverts that trope, with the bottomline that Ameri is Ameri and she could be both a ruthless judge as the student council president while also being just a normal teenage girl. I love this so so so much!

Same old Iruma, but after being dragged onto the student council by Ameri, the president, he might just be a new man after all. Except that’s nothing compared to the change Ameri has coming to her…
There’s just something about this series. Minus a rather unfortunately harsh attitude towards cross-dressing, which I partially chalk up to the year of original publication, this manages to be a fun time even as the questions and plot contrivances pile upon one another.
Basically, Iruma’s ring is coming to life and functions very similarly to the Genie from Aladdin, minus those references to Ed Sullivan that all the kids love. Caught in something frillier than usual by Ameri, she pulls him into the student council on the basis of needing to save him from his proclivities.
Iruma being tortured hard is a very good pretext to get to know the council better, plus it really deepens his relationship with Ameri. I love that they still relax their roles for him to read shojo manga to her despite his new position.
Mostly, however, it involves Ameri being a hard-ass and the trials she puts the council through on the regular are the kind of nonsense we expect from this story and emphasize her no-nonsense approach.
This part is okay, which did lead me to think that this might not be as entertaining as previous volumes. What I am starting to learn, however, is that I should never doubt the ability of this manga to come through in the clutch. It does literally every time.
The narrative really takes off when Ameri is targeted by a masked figure who hits her with a little bit of magic that unlocks her girliest side. And since she’s been gorging on shojo? Well, it’s very girly indeed.
Ameri is all the reason this manga kicks it up a notch for the last sections. She was already great as she was, but seeing her incredibly softened side is just too adorable by half. The way her ears flop downward the entire time is just the best artistic flourish.
What this also low-key does is show how strong Ameri is typically - the student council struggles without her at her best, but she has such loyalty that they try anyway AND she’s whipped them into such shape that they can nearly pull it off.
For as much as Ameri’s change works because we’ve seen her for so many volumes, the villain is a flamboyant doofus who just kind of shows up and then goes away again. If he’d had any sort of build-up it would have been a bit better.
His very nebulous power is “charisma” and he makes wild, impossible promises that can never come true, yet students seem to just shrug and either get charmed or decide that he’s so stupidly upfront about having no plan and all show that they want to vote for him anyway.
Any correlation with the Republican Party of 2016 is, I am sure, totally coincidental. Definitely rings depressingly true anyway.
Everything kind of lurches towards Ameri’s big climactic moment, which is great, but there are glaring plot holes, as I mentioned. This battler never mentioned before and this rule never mentioned before suddenly show up to be the big lynchpin of the arc? Yeah, no, some effort, dang it!
And I still have zero idea why Clara and Az get brought into this at the end, as their contributions to the resolution are exactly zero. Demon school only gets you so much leeway as a rule.
That Ameri saves every moment of this, especially with her speech AND the revelation she has about Iruma (yay!!!!)? Again, this manga surprises me with how it keeps itself strong where it counts. This series can bounce between the weakest set-ups to the best sort of storytelling with annoying frequency, but it just gets the good stuff so right that it’s one of the few manga where that doesn’t drive me nuts.
3.5 stars - rounded up because the good vibes of this story never fail to win me over. Ameri was always a favourite; now she still is, but moreso.

Awww this one is kinda cute, Ameri is under a spell and a new rival for student council 's president and Iruma become a member of student council, and I think there's love.
This volume is a fun one, lots of laughter and cuteness, way much better than the previous volume.

It was very interesting to see what it would be like if Iruma joined the student council! The “villain” of this volume was super annoying so hopefully they don’t show up again anytime soon 😅

5/5 stars!
Another okay read. I personally can't see the romantic chemistry between Iruma and Amerie. I'm just waiting for the Evil Cycle Iruma arc.
