If you are film-obsessed and have a penchant for surreal, nonsensical humour, this might appeal. On one level it is 'simply' an anthology of interesting films; listed, described and rated according to the appearance within each film of chickens, chicken meat or 'representations' of chicken. As an amusing anthology it is well-researched and the cod-serious tone is sublimely sustained throughout, to the extent that you may suspect there is more to this than chicken jokes. There is. It is also a masterful treatise on conspiracy theory, urban myth and how you can find evidence to support any random notion once you go looking for it. Its satire can thus be applied to all sorts of religious, political or alien persecution, mythologising and general mumbo jumbo. Never less than entertaining, occasionally thought-provoking. One of a kind, for sure. Worthy of Mark Twain and even Nathanael West.
