The Twelve Ordinary Men Workbook brings you face-to-face with Jesus' disciples as you've never seen them. Who were these men? They weren't saints. They weren't scholars. They weren't even religious sages. What is most amazing about the disciples is that Jesus even selected them at all. Among them--a handful of common fishermen, a hated tax collector, and an impulsive political zealot. This this workbook, you'll put yourself in their shoes. You'll come to understand their doubts and hopes. And you'll hear the power of Jesus' words in a whole new way. The message is clear. If Christ can accomplish His purposes through the lives of common men like these, imagine what He has in store for you! Based on John MacArthur's best-selling book Twelve Ordinary Men , this workbook is ideal for group or individual study, and
John F. MacArthur, Jr. was a United States Calvinistic evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You and as the editor of the Gold Medallion Book Award-winning MacArthur Study Bible. MacArthur was a fifth-generation pastor, a popular author and conference speaker, and served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California beginning in 1969, as well as President of The Master’s College (and the related Master’s Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.
Sometimes it seemed like MacArthur was repeating himself in chapter after chapter. I don't know if that was because he needed to do that to have enough material for the book but, I felt it could have been more succinctly written.
A great companion to John MacArthur's "Twelve Ordinary Men". I used this in a small group setting and it worked very well. There were many questions that were relevant to each book chapter, which I found very helpful in leading our small group discussions. I also appreciated that there was a section added at the end which covered the book as in summary form, which was nice since the book itself did not have any chapters beyond Chapter 10 (Judas).
Pros: Great questions that were a perfect supplement to each chapter and the chapter material. Cons: There were daily assignments that were a bit of a stretch and not always relevant to the chapter study. Bottom Line: An excellent companion to use in small study group discussion, or even individual study.
Informative, interesting and entertaining stories of the Apostles of Christ. Very pleasant narration by author. Reread and will again when thoughts get “I’m not enough!”. Not Christ’s thinking for anyone else either. God loves me everywhere all the time - not confused with all actions…if I love Him back. It works even when deeds don’t. ❤️♥️✝️💔❤️🩹
A bit repetative at times. Read as a part of our Men's club Bible Study. I also do not always agree with the authors docternal stance on things which may play a role in my ranking of the book as well. We did read in conjunction with the book as well.
