Meaning doesn't lie in things, meaning lies in us. We attach values.

The book doesn’t provide anything new and has lots of quotes from different people. It is a nice summary to remind yourself to slow down. The 10 reminders from the book:

Life is a series of choices. Good or bad, life of stress - we are the creators of this life we chose to live. Sometimes you have to slow down to go fast, enjoy the road along the way. Life is meant to be enjoyed and lived fully. If we become what we think about, what you will chose to become, who will you chose to surround yourself with. Slow down and everything you were chasing, will come around and will catch you.
1. Enjoy the little things in life because one day you may look back and realise they were the big things. The essential question is not how busy are you but with what are you busy. It is not what you look at, that matters, it’s what you see. Give your stress wings and let it fly away.
2. Have an order for the priorities in your life. We can do anything but we can’t do everything at the same time so think of your priorities not as what activities you do but when you do them (timing is everything). Not to prioritize what is on your schedule but to schedule your priorities. Success is only another form of failure if we forget what our priorities should be.
3. Reduce the numbers. You have succeeded in life when all you really want is only what you really need. Reduce the complexity of life by eliminating the needles wants of life and the labors of life reduce themselves. Ask yourself - how much is enough, where and what can you declutter in your life?
4. Go forward by going backwards. The best way to plan ahead and reduce stress is to go backwards. By envisioning your future now you can make an action plan for how to get there from your present. Losers live in the past, winners learn from the past and enjoy working in the present, towards the future.
5. Leave the past behind. Ask yourself: how has holding on to your past put limits on your future, what might you need to leave behind or let go of in order to move forward into the future, is there a situation or a conversations from the past that you need to deal with in the present in order to move on into your future?
6. Chose to be a victor. Life is the sum of all your choices. One of the most powerful medicines in the world is choice - we can chose our attitude, how we react to situations and with whom we want to share our lives, when illnesses or situations threaten to disrupt our lives, it’s our choice to be a victim or stay and fight. Nothing is impossible - with the right attitude you can do anything you want. If you don’t like something - change it, if you can’t change it - change the way you think about it.
7. Discover your magnetism - you are a magnet that attracts people and things into your life. Whatever is in your life - you attracted. Your attitude, your conversations and your way if being attracts the people you have in your life.
8. Get outdoors and close to nature.
9. Be less “if only/ what if”. Life is lived here and now, often we already have what we need yet we look like right past it, hoping for something else to come our way. We often look so long and regretfully upon the closed door that we don’t see the one, which is open for us. Live with intention, chose with no regret, be grateful for what you have, don’t miss on enjoying what is happening in the present by wishing “if only”.
10. Make it a purpose to know your purpose. How we spend our days is how we spend our lives. Ask yourself: what are you passionate about, what lights you up.

Enjoy the little things in life because one day you might realize they were actually the big things.

The question is not if you are busy, rather what you are busy about.

The key is not to prioritize your schedule rather schedule your priorities.

Good things happen when you get your priorities straight.

Meaning doesn’t lie in things, they lie in us.

Where and what can you unclutter from your life.

“Losers live in the past. Winners learn from the past and enjoy working in the present toward the future.” — Denis Waitley

Leave the past behind.

If you were to write down the conversations you have with others, you will notice that the majority of them dwell on the past.

How has holding onto the past withheld you from the future? Are there things from the past that you should let go?

Choose to be a victor.

One of the most powerful things we have is the power of choice.

“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” — Winston Churchill

If you don’t like something, then change it. If you can’t change it, then change your attitude about it.

The two words “if only” are very sad words.

Make a purpose in life to know your purpose.

When we are away from our purpose, we feel more stressed.

Stress is the trash of our modern lives. If we do not dispose of it properly, it will add up and overtake our lives.

We should slow down in order to speed up. Slow down and rethink your purpose. Slow down as to not let stress overtake you.

Things happen in our lives, but it is how we handle those things that makes all the difference.

If we become what we think, then what will you end up becoming?

I read this in a hardback edition (gift book type) which was not listed on Goodreads. It comes with a DVD which I have not yet watched.

It was a simple thing. There are 10 rules given, basically, don't stress about stuff! He suggests that you get out into nature, think about what your goals and purpose in life are, make good friends. Nothing earth shattering or something that is not common sense. He might have added something like "get a good night's sleep", "eat healthy."

This is a simple, ten easy step book. For someone who just wants some quick tips to destress and live an overall happier life, this is great. It's not deep, but it's practical and wise.

This was intriguing - going to be honest I finished it 2 days ago and I have absolutely no idea what it was about now - so unfortunately it has to be rated 1.5/2 to be honest.

Stress is a choice, indeed. “There is more to life than increasing its speed,” Mahatma Gandhi. Slowdown then everything you were chasing will come around, and catch you.

It's really difficult to rate this kind of book. What I can say is that it brought nothing new to me. It was more like a reminder of all those things I already knew. So, a good quick read.

A quick read - personally I think I read it too fast and didn't quite soak in everything I read. The book was decent but with A LOT of quotes. I may reread it in a few weeks.

This book was very simple and easy to read. It is one man’s view on ways to de-stress you daily schedule. You will learn easy ways to enjoy your day.

I thought the book was well written. I really enjoyed the quotes that are dispersed throughout the book. I found that they highlighted the principle the author was discussing. I also found most of them to be catchy in some way making them easy to remember.

The author comes across as a very nice and intelligent man with a great sense of humor. I found the book to be non-judgmental and really just a great resource for those days when we all have too much to do. I liked how the author used Biblical principles to help with the mundane daily issues we all deal with. Learning how to look to the Lord as your planner and listening to His leading as you schedule your days is the best principle taken from this book.
.
I gave this book 5/5 stars. I enjoyed every page, learned from it and think it would make a great gift for a stressed out friend!
